After watching much YT footage over the past few days, I took the plunge and purchased Desert War on the evening of Christmas Day.
Subsequently, I have spent this past Boxing Day (here in Canada), immersed in the desert sands of 1940 and Desert War. What a game ! Just the right amount of detail, the unit cards are very nicely done, and the stacking, which I thought would be an issue, really isn't, it actually works.
The movement system works well, and I really enjoy the WEGO battle resolution. It is nicely implemented in phases. The sound effects are excellent, and really add to the immersion of this title.

I look forward to see what BK Wargames has in store for us next !

Glad to hear you are enjoying it. The El Alamein scenario can be a challenge in the stacking department. But that's what made El Alamein--El Alamein...the choke-point on the way to Cairo. I have posted a comprehensive set of multiplayer challenges for those people interested in learning the game; I'll answer all questions posed to the best of my ability. No stress.

It has been interesting learning the GUI for this game. Just got it earlier today. Hope to discuss what I've learned with a couple of friends who just got it. Tried to introductory scenario and got whupped by the AI.

Just a comment about the graphics as I saw a couple of mods which in my opinion greatly improve the look of the units. I think the weakest graphic is the German infantry. To me it looks like the German soldier is wearing an American helmet. The hats in a couple of the mods look way better and are more appropriate from the photographs I'v seen historically.

I very rarely install mods because you usually have to reinstall them when there is an update. It would be nice if the developers either added some of these mods in an update or at the very least replaced the American looking helmet with the iconic Afrika Korp hat.
