I got a new laptop and reinstalled CC-TLD. Now I am launching game and the game menu comes up normal but when I select PLAY CC5 the game launches to a purple game menu.
I changed all the compatibility settings as per the forums. My dxdiag is attached. TYIA for your help

Have you tried using the "windowed mode" option?

Thanks for these informations, zakblood! Had last night ordered CCTLD, and then I was so disappointed because the game's starting failed with video card issues. Reportedly my "video card does not support at least 800x600x 16bit resolution"...
Fortunately: also for Windows version 8.1 (64bit) your instructions work!

I get the same purple Menu Screen that Coozman65 got, upon just purchasing and installing the game.

I tried following ZakBlood's guide. But I don't get to Step 9 and the correct Menu? I have Windows 10 Home.

Not sure what I need to do next? Also, in ZaKBlood's guide there is an Update file - I only have the one downloaded file, I just purchased and downloaded. Do I need that update file to get it working? Where do I get it?

Not sure whether the update file is necessary to get the graphics working.
The update file itself is offered by the product page's download section,
(and you have to be logged in and have the game registered to download).

I got the upgrade,and installed that per same instructions. Still no success. Officially dead in the water
