Answer: switch to another empire and try to beat your victorious empire.

For several months, off and on, I’ve been working to add a feature to the Bacon Mod to allow the player to switch to controlling another empire. Unfortunately, I was unable to get it to work. The closest I got was switching empires but when you go to save the game it crashes.

Anyway, I found out there is an easy way to do this without modding. Once you’ve reached the point where you want to switch empires, open the editor and go to “Edit Empires”. Select the one you want to switch to and check the “Playable” checkbox. Save the game and then drop the save file into your “Maps” folder (Create one if you don’t have one). Then start a new game and it should be listed as a playable scenario.

Maybe everyone already knows this and I’m late to the party but I just found out so I thought I’d pass it along.

Thank you Roger as that sounds like a great idea and I will try it out sometime.

Hi Roger.....

Thanks for that tip..... will see if I can make use of that with the mods I am doing.

It just occurred to me that this technique could even be used to play a two-player co-op game in a way. By sending the save file back and forth with a friend on a regular schedule, say every 5 game years, two people could play in the same game against the AI. Of course the AI would be running your empire when it was the other player's turn but you could think of that as the opposition political party being in power and you having no control over what decisions get made in your empire at that time.

Maybe we can get Larry Monte and Das123 to do a co-op youtube game against a large AI empire. I'd watch that.
