jebboy -> Partisans in China (1/5/2019 3:40:21 PM)

I'm playing my first game as the Axis (after all who wants Nazis to win?) and I'm seeing Chinese partisan activity even though I have unit adjacent to the hexes. It was my understanding that having an adjacent unit was sufficient.

I'm not seeing any other posts about this so maybe I'm wrong or I'm missing some subtlety.

Any ideas?

To be honest: difficult to tell without knowing where the Partisans did hit, and where your units where placed on the map.

I'm seeing this as well and seems to be Communist China partisan activity only? But not seeing any affects from it? Just the event?

BillRunacre -> RE: Partisans in China (1/6/2019 1:04:22 PM)

If it is displayed as either Communist or Resistance activity, then it isn't triggered by the Partisan locations being empty, and it will just affect the strength of some of your resources. No Partisan units will deploy as a result of this.

jebboy -> RE: Partisans in China (1/6/2019 1:17:27 PM)

So this is activity that cannot be stopped; they are in game events.

Correct?

elxaime -> RE: Partisans in China (1/6/2019 10:39:21 PM)

I am wondering that as well. For example, partisans damage a lot of the resources in Manchuria. I have been putting Japanese garrisons on them (beyond the ones you need to keep Soviet mobilization down). They don't seem to be taking damage if you have them garrisoned. But I may just be imagining this. If it is inevitable, then that would be great to know so I don't garrison them. Thx in advance for any information.

BillRunacre -> RE: Partisans in China (1/7/2019 8:29:51 PM)

I would certainly garrison the locations that are highlighted when you press P on your keyboard, especially those that could spawn proper Partisan units (where the Partisan hasn't got a diagonal line through it).

These other events are in addition to those and unpredictable, but they will only reduce supply so they aren't as much of a pain as proper Partisans.

jebboy -> RE: Partisans in China (1/8/2019 1:55:06 PM)

Bill,

Not trying to be difficult, but am trying to understand.

Having units beside these hexes doesn't stop them from firing. The manual says they should, and this seems to work everywhere else but China.

Is this expected behavior?

P.S. Love the fact there are P spawn points in more locations now. It gives a real use for garrison units.

BillRunacre -> RE: Partisans in China (1/8/2019 4:07:02 PM)

Hi

Having units against hexes that are Partisan trigger points will prevent Partisan activity, but the scripts for Communist activity are different, they represent sabotage, strikes and go slows, and are therefore impossible to prevent in the same way. They are also contingent, unlike normal Partisan scripts, on Communist China having entered the war.

These scripts can be turned off if desired, by going to Options -> Advanced -> Scripts

Choose the Supply ones, and untick those on pages 3-4 that are labelled Communist Partisan Activity in China

The Manchurian ones are already switched off by default, so it is just these Communist ones.

Bill

Thanks!

I do not want to turn them off, just wanted to understand.

Thanks for the replies; they are appreciated.

Hartmann -> RE: Partisans in China (7/23/2019 8:26:59 PM)

Sorry for necroing, but: Despite having the hexes covered, I get occasional *messages* about partisan activity in Manchuria too, though in fact nothing seems to happen. Could it be that the text messages can somehow still fire even though the actual effects are blocked?

Mercutio -> RE: Partisans in China (7/23/2019 8:43:15 PM)

I have seen that too. I take it as a warning, but I tend to be overcautious on partisans.
Now courtesans..... <damn, lost 100 points for that>

BillRunacre -> RE: Partisans in China (7/24/2019 2:23:55 PM)

I think the messages you've seen if all Partisan locations are covered would refer to Resistance Activity rather than Partisan activity?

Resistance Activity in this instance represents sabotage that can't be stopped by placing units there, it just causes disruption to Japanese income and supply.

But wouldn't the disruption of income mean city strength points being reduced accompanied with "explosion" sounds? For that won't happen either. Or doesn't it work like that with WAW?
