Chama -> Automatic interception rules (1/12/2019 6:11:24 PM)

Hello, been trying to get an understanding of German airplay. Can someone bring me up to speed about how to get the best out of automatic interception? I looked through the manual and didn't find a lot. Is there a way i can control automatic interception?

best advice is to strip off any fuel tanks of the air units. That way they will not fly too far - advantage is if you intercept you do it in force, disadvantage is you might miss a raid all together.

I tend to use AS Air Directives for the day fighters as you can specify radius and altitude - latter is important as its not till mid/late 44 do you get fighters that are happy over 21,000'.

I know other regular commentators will suggest just to rely on auto-intercept.

Thanks for the answer, bit of a shame you can't give any input to how interception should be conducted.

well I have actually.

Its automatic, its not a mission. Deploy your fighters where you think the Allies will go, strip the fuel tanks so you don't get small scale interceptions (which you will tend to lose). Move them around as needed.

You'll also find some detailed discussion in some of the AARs - some of which I've written.

So, to be honest, I feel a distinct lack of 'shame'.

What I do is put big concentrations of day fighters further back in Germany with heavy fighters on the coast to harrass the incoming enemy forces at sea so they will loss more AC over the sea, heavy fighters don't always need drop tanks. Day fighters I spread around and have some use drop tanks and some with a mixture of weapons. Experiment to see what combinations get the best results. Sadly, there's an exploit in the game where the allies can fly all of their night fighters above the Rheinland industrial area so your night fighters can get devastated because you have no way to prevent this. If that happens just evacuate them. I personally use automatic interception since I find the results to be very good with the intensive micromanagement I like to do.
