ivanov -> AI Overwriting manual air orders // fighter escort (1/17/2019 3:45:30 PM)

At the beginning of most of the scenarios, the friendly air units start with some preset orders. When I change them from let's say, airfield attack to ground support, during the subsequent turn, AI changes automatically the unit orders back to the original ones. Is there a way to prevent the AI from changing the manually set orders?

Follow up question,if I wan't to let's say attack the enemy airfiled and have the bombers escorted by friendly fighters, do I need to order the fighter units to attack the same airfiled, or the escort will be automatic, if the fighters are set to air superiority?

You have the Air Staff Assistant turned ON. Turn it OFF.

OK, thanks! And what about the escort fighters?

Sometimes escort fighters show up, sometimes they don't, UNLESS you assign them to
attack the same target as the bombers. THEN they DO escort.

Directly assigning AS to the bombardment is more supply costly than AS. Probably more costly in AAA losses, too.

I don't know the exact drill for AS supporting specific air missions, but closeness to the target and health probably are among the factors.

Yeah, I have a feeling that directing fighters to strike a target, would mean that they will actually attack it. Picture Bf-109's strafing ground targets - not very effective and wasteful. They would suffer loses from the ground fire. From what I've seen so far, sending only bombers to attack, does not result in higher loses. So that would mean that the escort is automatic.
