Stay at Sea/RTB.

CW keeps various escorts out in the Atlantic and Med.

The French keep ships out in West Med and also the sub from the 3-box.

Force H returns to Gib from West Med. Subs and Beaufighter return to Malta from Italian Coast. Queens to Kuala Lumpur. Dutch TRANS to Calcutta. Escorts to Liverpool and Alex'.

French CA's and Sub in the Med to Oran.

US sub in South China Sea to Manilla. Sub in Hawaiian Is to Pearl. AMPH to Midway.

Oil use

US reorgs 2 subs, AMPH and TRANS (0.4) for 0 points.

CW reorgs all (1.7) for 2 points (Rangoon and Port of Spain).

France reorgs all (0.55) expending an oil at Bordeaux. Profligate, yes but stops it falling into Axis hands.

No breakdowns.

I just don't understand what is wrong with the program. I set out steps to ensure that everything worked and STILL it simply seems to decide to ignore the orders and place freakin' oil wherever it wants!! How can Dresden by overstacked? I saved 1 freakin' oil in freakin' Dresden?

It's seems sometimes it works and sometimes it can't be arsed [:@]

M/A 42 Allies 4

No DoW or alignments.

Naval: CW, France
Combined: The rest.

The French put a sub in Italian Coast 2-box and send out escorts into East and West Med.

CW TRANS takes INF from Algiers to Homs. Queens from Malaya to Mozambique Chanel where they load SA TERR. 3 CP's from Adu Atol to South China Sea. TRANS takes MAR from Liverpool to Casablanca. Various escorts are sent out.

US sends TRANS with P-35 to Hawaiian Is 1-box. TRANS with Dauntless to Pago Pago and Sub from Pearl to China Sea 2-box.

CW declines combat in Faeroes but initiates in Italian Sub. French sub is used for searching.

Searches: Allies 4, Axis 1. Some vague shapes and hints of smoke amongst all the storms but no combat.

The Germans can try their hand in Faeroes Gap if they wish? Two of the escorts were to The Gap 4-box. I declined the intercept as it was obviously unnecessary and to move the game along.

AllenK -> RE: Folly a deux: AllenK vs Warspite1 AAR (5/6/2019 12:14:57 PM)

Searches: Axis 2, Allies 3. Both sides find each other.

The Allies have a CL sent back to port. Is there any preference for how the German subs take their damage? They are also on 2A.

AllenK -> RE: Folly a deux: AllenK vs Warspite1 AAR (5/6/2019 12:33:33 PM)

It does indeed survive the first to take the second. Do the Germans wish to continue?

Yes please

AllenK -> RE: Folly a deux: AllenK vs Warspite1 AAR (5/6/2019 12:54:42 PM)

Searches: Axis 6, Allies 10. No combat.

I send the German sub back to Kiel. Trust this was okay. CW CL goes to Liverpool.

USSR rails GARR from Kiev to Odessa.

Soviet forces abandon Lithuania.

AllenK -> RE: Folly a deux: AllenK vs Warspite1 AAR (5/6/2019 1:15:57 PM)

The Nationalists continue their cautious advance, retaking Kweiyang.

CW boffins have found ways to fold up some CVP's into a smaller space, so there is some reorganising of CV air groups at Gib. DB-7 rebases to Tunis. Spitfire and P-40 from Southampton to Plymouth.

US rebases P-35 from TRANS to Midway. Hornet loads a CVP.

USSR rebases some aircraft in the north.

No reorgs.

Weather spells trouble for the French.

Germany

Three stukas target Paris and the hex to the west

All French aircraft can reach both hexes. There are 2 bombers west of Paris (5+5) and two on Paris (6+3). There are no Axis fighters aside from those in the picture. What do the French want to do?

The MS-410 will take to the skies above Paris. The P-36A will make a probably sacrificial attempt to defend the HQ hex, thanks.

Ground Strike (Air to Air Combat Subphase)
Germany and Italy

The Germans and Italians both bring in a fighter to each hex. First up its west of Paris (note post this picture I have swapped the two bombers position).

Round 1
Allies: 9 (AC) - the French decide which bomber to clear. They have the same ground factors so choose the better air to air factor to clear.
Axis: 12 (AC) - no Allied bomber to clear through

Round 2
Allies: 13 (AC) - the remaining Stuka is cleared
Axis: 11 (DC) - no Allied bomber to clear through

I rebase the French fighter from whence it came as it is sufficiently out of the way but can affect Paris in future.

Germany

The Germans attempt a paradrop west of Paris escorted by a 5-factor aircraft. The French have a 6 factor fighter. The Germans/Italian can counter with 1 x 6 and 1 x 4 factor fighters. What do the French want to do?

Land Combat:
Germany

One attack is announced, west of Paris. Do the French add the notional. The odds are 59:15 (3:1) (probably +3) but 59:13 4:1 (+2) without the notional

Also do the French want to roll for HQ Support?

AllenK -> RE: Folly a deux: AllenK vs Warspite1 AAR (5/6/2019 4:44:19 PM)

Decline the notional but may as well see if the HQ will support itself, thanks.

Mar/Apr 1942
Impulse: 7 (Axis)

Land Combat:
Germany

The Luftwaffe bring in 2 bombers to take the odds to exactly 5:1 +4 (ARM, Disorganised + Para). The HQ Support fails (an 8 is thrown). The blitz table is chosen to get the modifiers. A 6(10) is thrown. The French lose two units and I do not convert to retreat - which unit is saved HQ, ART or INF - I assume the HQ?

Edit: to move the game on I will save the most valuable unit i.e. the HQ.
