I travelled through Normandy several years ago and the one thing that struck me in comparing the old war pics with today's world is how desolate and undeveloped large tracts of Normandy was in '44. Hand in hand with this was just how scattered the German "Atlantic Wall" really was. Much of Normandy was void of defenses.

Nice pictures (both the 1944 and 2014). My wife and I stayed in Arromanches (where the British Mulberry was) back in 2007. On our last night I remember eating at a restaurant just behind Juno Beach that was really great. I think it was called "Le Poissonierie" and although I can't see it I believe it was just out of sight in the photo with that line of black and white "beachhouses" (not sure what they are).

Arromanches today

Arromanches plus the remains of the British Mulberry today (well 2007)

I've seen this kind of thing attempted before but never with such accuracy with the fade in and out.
Excellent!
