Sure you are. Don't be so sensitive. Your use of the word "hump" was classic.

Let's get back to wargaming.

AKA "The Hump was the name given by Allied pilots in the Second World War to the eastern end of the Himalayan Mountains over which they flew military transport aircraft from India to China to resupply the Chinese war effort of Chiang Kai-shek and the units of the United States Army Air Forces (AAF) based in China."

Kindly point out any spoilers Tailhook leaked. All I see are comments about the ORBAT being inconsistent with real world profiles. Anything else he/she mentioned are available to any player, since we have access to both sides in the game.

Couple of minor issues

The piers and radio station on orchilla island are located underwater ;-)

Most of the KC-46 are set with refuel doctrine set to not allow.

TitaniumTrout -> RE: The King of the Border is out! (2/5/2019 3:29:47 PM)

I've noticed the US fuelers all come into range of the S400 battery and are knocked down. (I haven't played it on the US side yet). This happens several times as well.

Tailhook -> RE: The King of the Border is out! (2/5/2019 5:29:47 PM)

Since my post I have been in direct contact with the scenario designer in regards to the ORBAT and we have made nice progress on tightening it up while still maintaining the feel and intent of the scenario. Nothing I posted was spoilers as I made it without even unpausing the scenario. It was no different than any other post on any other scenario offering constructive criticism.

I haven't yet found time to play this scenario myself, but I like the timely context and the idea of this escalating. Great to see that feedback from the community individuals who obviously know their stuff quite well is heard and implemented! :) Can't wait to try this one out.

I think this basic setup would also make an interesting version that would be more asymmetric. That is, without much of Russian presence other than perhaps some subs and the strategic bombers that tick the intervention, but maybe some technological and advisor aid in forms of few advanced SAM systems and limited numbers of tactical aircraft.

Real and Simulated Wars -> RE: The King of the Border is out! (2/6/2019 6:37:05 PM)

I know the land war is a bit out of the scope of the scenario, but both US Striker Companies in Cúcuta and Arauca don’t have a chance against the Venezuelan mechanized forces. The Striker units do not have any anti-tank assets. It feels odd seeing the Colombian Army outperforming the US Army.

Also, the Venezuelan forces move at around 34 mph in very restrictive terrain devoid of proper infrastructure.

Cheers,

This is a game limitation, not a scenario one.

Real and Simulated Wars -> RE: The King of the Border is out! (2/6/2019 8:55:21 PM)

Can't you LUA their movement speed?

Cheers,

kevinkins -> RE: The King of the Border is out! (2/6/2019 10:08:02 PM)

Ground warfare is almost out the scope for Command in general. It takes a well thought out application of ground units and their limitations within Command to make ground units worth adding to a scenario design. It can be done - but not easy.

BTW ... love your web site @ Real and Simulated Wars

trujillocorreo -> RE: The King of the Border is out! (2/7/2019 2:10:03 PM)

Hello friends.

At last I have been able to see the scenario and I have some observations regarding the ORBAT of Venezuela and Colombia.

Venezuela
1-Radar coverage and SAM, operates under the Operational Command of Integral Aerospace Defense, CODAI.

A-Network of 10 JYL-1 3D early warning radars:
-Jeremba.
-Montecano.
-La Sierra.
-Mene Mauroa.
-El Vigía.
-Santa Bárbara.
-San Fernando de Apure.
-Luepa.
-La Esmeralda.
-El Sombrero.
Additionally, there are Giraffe 75, Thales Reporter, JY-11B, YLC-2V and JZ / QF-612 mobile radars.

B-SAM Coverage:
-3 BARAK 1 systems (current operation is unknown)
-11 Pechora S-125 2M systems,
-1 BUK M2E system.
-1 System S-300 VM Antey 2500.
Additionally MANPADS IGLA-S, RBS-70 and MISTRAL.

2-There are a greater number of air bases available.

3-The F-16 A / B received at the beginning of the 80s in a number of 24 units, only have a flight capacity of 10-12 examples and are part of the 16th Air Group of Hunting based on the El Libertador Air Base , BAEL (Black Stick)

4-Of the two Boeing 707 tankers, one is already disincorporated and the other is 8-9 years out of service due to problems with the engines. There are no plans for it to enter service in the short term.

5-There are currently 23 units, out of the original 24, of SU-30 MK2 aircraft. There are 11 units assigned to GAC 11 based at the Captain Manuel Ríos Air Base, BAMARI (El Sombrero). The remaining 12 are part of GAC 13 based at Lieutenant Luis Del Valle García Air Base, BAVALLE (Barcelona)

6-There is no presence of units of the Armada de Venezuela ARV.

Colombia.

1-In addition to those already indicated by @Danivas:
Correct and complete coverage of early warning radars, dependent on the National Air Defense System, SISDAN, composed of radars AN / TPS-70, 78 and 703.

2-There is no presence of units of the Colombian Navy ARC.

PS: With the unification of accounts login Matrix-Silterine I lost my previous nickname, SEAMAN.

Regards

Su-57 is a prototype of 5th generation,Russia ordered 12 in 2018 and will be delivered at the end of 2019..so I removed them from the scenario

Sharana -> RE: The King of the Border is out! (2/11/2019 8:54:14 PM)

Actually Russia ordered 2 (two) with delivery date 2019 and 2020 and till 2027 they should order total of 12. Those are the serial ones. Prototypes are I believe already 12, but they are incompleted testbeds - the last two are rumored to be in serial configuration. So as of today 2 properly working prototypes exist flied by test pilots. 0 in operational service for many years to come.

De Savage -> RE: The King of the Border is out! (2/21/2019 2:54:57 PM)

Russian Ochila airbase's very large aircrafts cannot get airborne. Runway access is only for Large and not very large.

Is there updated version of scenario?

Roby7979 -> RE: The King of the Border is out! (2/21/2019 3:22:31 PM)

Hi De Savage
In the last update there are no very large aircrafts to take off from Orchila AB,so don't need a very large Runway Access.
i removed A-50 Mainstay

Hi, there are still two very large tanker aircrafts that could not get airborne.

Roby7979 -> RE: The King of the Border is out! (2/21/2019 6:00:19 PM)

They should be in maintenance or removed, with the new update there are no flights of aircrafts other than fighters from AB Orchila
thank you for advise.
