Harlock_0 -> buttoned infantry? (5/14/2000 9:26:00 PM)

I'm currently playing the "Agony of Doom" scenario against a friend. After shooting some of his infantry units I realized they had become "buttoned". Isnt that only for vehicles? At first I thought the answer was that they were in a building and after being shot decided to "close the windows" and lay low But then I saw a buttoned unit out in the open... Can I assume buttoned means pinned, or something else? Thanx p.s. : again, GREAT game!

"Buttoned" is used to indicate that the unit has gone to cover whereever it might be. It probably should be a different word, but at least it conveys the idea. And a buttoned unit can change its stance automatically if it feels the immediate danger has passed or it decides to become brave and make some sort of move. Also when a unit decides to op fire, it will lose part of its cover, thus becoming "unbuttoned." When it does, it becomes a better target for the enemy, of course. Thanks a lot!

This is probably a unit class issue, does it seem to affect only units of a specific class? Say "Elite infantry" but not "Heavy Infantry"?

I'll look into that and will post my observations soon.

Couldnt really identify the units, since I destroyed most of them (cant wait to see how my adversary will retake the victory points on buildings with his lone tanks . But I know a GE rifle squad was buttoned at some point.

since I destroyed most of the inf (cant wait to see how my adversary will retake the victory points on buildings with his lone tanks > Easy....bail out of the tank, occupy the building, and climb back aboard! They did this in the Beast, except it was a village. Great movie! ------------------ Best Wishes, STEELER

Yeah, thats the best thing he could do, but I didnt want to write it down here, just in case he happens to read it! but bringing his crewmen out when there are a couple of machine guns waiting may prove hazardous to their health... He could also run a tank into a building "securing" it a little bit more just before the game ends. I`ll try to look for that movie, never heard of it before.
