Eric Bondura -> changing leader names (6/17/2001 3:42:00 AM)

Does anybody know how to edit leader names? We all probably have some personal favorites we would like to use.

Currently I think it is impossible. Names were stored earlier in separate text files(.txt), but now they are in the same file as the code itself (or are they? Not 100% sure) You could edit it, but that would cause more harm than good. (No PBEM after that)

The "Master list" the game picks from is fixed, but to change it in a game or scenario just choose teh unit whose leader's name you want changed, hit the spacebar and click on the name - then input a new one. Note you can't change the rank that way - just the name. Edit unit data in the scen editor to change rank.

If you are doing scenario design and want to change your leaders name or rank, as Paul says, do it in the scenario editor. Left click on a unit. Type "d" Click on Leader button, bottom right. Click on name, type in new one, hit enter. Click on rank, type in #, hit enter 1-Pvt 2-Cpl 3-Sgt 4-2Lt 5-1Lt 6-Capt 7-Major 8-Lt Col 9-Col 10-General (yep, even a general!) Even folks who don't know how to design scenarios can do this one, then save in same slot under same name and the changes will be permanent. In a number of my scenarios you'll find some intersting names :D occasionally. Wild Bill
