Selchu -> An idea. (3/1/2019 1:07:57 AM)

Hi folks.
CMANO is an awesome game or else this community wouldn't exist.
I have an idea for a scenario but I am crap at scripting and have no idea how to go about creating it. I know enough to change a few things in other peoples scenarios (Who doesn't like an F-14 on a carrier?) but I'm not confident enough to be able to build this one.

My idea was using the COW cargo and troop drop features to build a mission based on Kandahar. Fly troops into missions then extract them after, resupply missions to FOBS and troops and CAS for Troops in contact. It's a big build and I know some people like Gunner98 (Your fury scenarios are awesome btw) like a big mission build so I thought I would offer the idea out to people to play with. Hell it doesn't even have to be Afghan. Run it from a few LHDs if you so desire on a small island.

I'm gonna try and figure how to do a version of this and I don't want people thinking I'm work shy but I know my limits. Anyway. if anyone has any helpful tutorials for me browse then cool. Help is always welcome. Or if they wanna build it themselves and share it out then that is cool too. I just thought I would share an idea I had.

Anyway. if you made it to here then go have a drink! You earned it.

Cheers
Sel

Thanks for the kind words Sel, but I've got a bit too much on my plate at the moment to build anything like this -and it sounds too much like my day job ...

I'll try and help out if you have any questions or concerns, it does sound interesting.

Cheers gunner. Didn't mean you had to build it. Just thought I would share the idea out.
So after some trial and error I have a couple of questions.

Is it reasonable to put down locked reference points with codenames that i could later attach onto mission briefings during the mission? For example, have a way point with a towns name on it but have it locked so people can see where they should be considering placing troops? I assume a trigger is used to create the popup with a mission?

When fitting the cargo out on USS America (using her as my test bed) I can't find SEALS or Marines listed as cargo. When I do deploy troops they appear to be generic infantry. How do I find them for loading?

Cheers in advance. Sel

Very reasonable to used locked RPs. I use them all the time. You can either have them from the start of lua them in when you need them. Often when you have triggers attached to them you want to lock them so that a player doesn't inadvertently move or delete them.

There are generic SOF troops in the cargo as well as generic standard infantry. The loadouts for some AC have specifics (SEALs or Marines) but for cargo you just use the generic as it doesn't really matter to the game.

First step would be to build an inst-file (for the ImportExport folder) of the actual Kandahar Airfield "which is one of the largest military bases of Afghanistan, capable of housing up to 250 aircraft of all type" (Wiki).

This is a fair point. I'll have to try and figure that out at a later date. I think the priority for me at the moment is to build a mission and see if the principle works or not. I am working on a small version that will use the USS America on a training mission and her compliment of Marines and MV-22s along with some other forces.

The original idea works on troop pickup and retrieval and support/CAS. I'll figure out base building at some point. But if your able to help or give me some guidance on this i224747 (Cool name btw, very Storm Trooperish[sm=character0167.gif])

Ok cool. Thanks for that. LUA is beyond me at this point but I'll figure something out.
