I think I just described a typical PBEM start. :)

Wild Bill -> (6/22/2003 10:54:06 AM)

As the old radio program used to say on Sunday afternoon when I was a towhead (Yes, we sat around the radio like folks do the TV today - :eek: ) (And yes they had radios when I was a boy)

"Only the Shadow Knows"...and he ain't tellin!

STEELER13 -> lotsa tanks! (6/22/2003 12:20:15 PM)

Yo Wild Bill,
Whatever you do, please include lotsa tanks, sir! Hey, does anyone remember a comic book called "Ghost Tank" about a Sherman in WWII which was haunted by the ghost of General Sherman? Really cool comic. It would be published in early 80's as I was a big comic book fan from kindergarten until 6th grade when my Mom threw them all out(tis ok, I get my revenge by leaving comic book price catalogues over her house now and then...):mad:
Anyway, that would be a cool campaign....follow an American or British "Ghost Battalion" through the West Front. Everyonce in awhile have Reinforcements appear in the form of a US horse calvary or British Lancer charge! Forward the Light Brigade!
Ok, ok, tis really past my bedtime now! Night, now!
:rolleyes:

Irinami -> (6/22/2003 1:01:19 PM)

Woot! That would be a cool little "Fantasy Campaign." ^^

KG Erwin -> I was just thinking of a Carly Simon song... (6/22/2003 1:22:13 PM)

Called , "Anticipation". That could be the theme for this new project. All I can tell you is, get ready for the best MC yet. With Wild Bill at the helm, you know it's gonna be good. Wonders never cease. ;)

STEELER13 -> correction (6/22/2003 1:26:34 PM)

Yo All,
Mea culpa. I am getting old. It's called Haunted Tank, and it was Jeb Stuart's ghost, not Sherman's(wrong side). And I just did another post on the Stuart, oh well. And it was printed in the early 70's before I was born...
Ok, night now!:eek:

Les_the_Sarge_9_1 -> (6/22/2003 7:50:25 PM)

Your memory still needs tweaking hehe, it wasn't a Sherman they were riding.

It was an M3 Stuart.

Orzel Bialy -> My guess is... (6/22/2003 8:59:54 PM)

there will tanks...and infantry...and mines....and arty in this MC. I mean I could be wrong....:D :p ;)

It seems like lips are sealed on this one folks...we'll just have to wait! ;)

Les_the_Sarge_9_1 -> (6/22/2003 9:10:05 PM)

This just out, it will be set in WW2 :)

Wait, that is not an absolute yet.

Maybe I should go see if CNN has anything concrete to add.

Bulletin: The Weekly World News just announced it will have the ghost of Elvis as the Allied commander and be set in post-war Berlin.

;)

Supervisor -> Information comes at a price (6/22/2003 11:23:35 PM)

Well all have our price!!!!..........................................................

Unfortunatle those who know haven't figured out what that price is yet.:p :p :p :p :p :p :p :p :p :p :p :p

Good luck with your new project. I wish I could have helped as it sounds like a great endeavor!

Huffy -> (6/23/2003 1:01:44 AM)

Speaking of "GI Combat...and the haunted Tank" ...I just dug my old comics out for my son....brings back memories..
Take care,

Only until the Stuart was knocked out...then the crew "made" there own tank from a tank graveyard...;)

M4 Jess also loves Sgt Rock!

Huffy -> (6/23/2003 7:15:42 AM)

Jess is right....they put a new turret and gun on the old tank...just looked at that comic the other day . Oh Jess....I liked Sgt. Rock also...been looking at them too.
Take care...
Huffy

Mark Ezra -> (6/24/2003 4:10:37 AM)

The Haunted Tank! Oh how that brings back memories...I found a Haunted tank Comic a few years back...Loved the re-read and you know what? An M3 can climb buildings and Kill Tigers with head shots...LOL...Now that imagery explains why I keep buying lot's of Stuarts in PBEM's...funny thing, though, they just keep crashing into the buildings and getting immobilized. Must be a game bug, unh...?

fullmetaljacko -> (6/24/2003 6:38:00 AM)

Love how this turned into a comic thread eh? Sgt Rock was cool though, only have 1 comic. I can't wait for this MC, cuz Wild bill you rock! I'm playing "from Utah to the Rhine" and i love it! Also played your scenario about the FJ in Norway, with the airport, first scenario i actually won (with limited ammo on)! :)

Wild Bill -> (6/24/2003 7:33:36 AM)

GO FMJ! Its fun to win every once in a while, ain't it. Kinda restores our generalship ;)

Glad you are trying U 2 R. It has got a few tough ones in there. Good hunting!

mogami -> The VFW (6/25/2003 9:49:06 AM)

Poor old Mog sat sucking down a beer. The VFW was deserted and lonely. He sat recalling his glory days in the Desert with Rommel or the Jungles with the Marines.

Wild Bill -> (6/25/2003 9:59:16 AM)

Tell me about it, Mog!

Those were some hectic but very good times. You are a true VFW and a great asset to the gaming community and were to me during those two tours of duty.

I hope that this one lives up to the adage, "Save the best till last."

fullmetaljacko -> (6/25/2003 10:21:10 AM)

I dunno if this has any connection but I read a post recently with you, (wild bill) looking for something that gave me an idea.. Hmmmm.... Will i be silenced or just wrong? :)

edited because I didn't want to be right. ;)

Wild Bill -> (6/25/2003 10:33:34 AM)

Oh, I don't mind a litle sleuthing, FMJ! That is part of the fun of it. I'm just not going to say right or wrong. My lips are sealed, at least for now. As this progresses, more light will be shed on the theme, I promise.

WB

fullmetaljacko -> (6/25/2003 10:36:36 AM)

Oh i understand, i just didn't wanna jump to a conclusion and then burst it out. I can't wait for it though, gonna be like waiting for christmas as a little kid. hehe. Goodluck and enjoy it, even though a lot of people say it i'm sure there's tons that enjoy what you do.

KG Erwin -> Right! You guessed it! (6/25/2003 12:02:08 PM)

A Mega-Comic book Campaign! Sgt Rock and his Howling Commandos with the Haunted Tank and.....nah, I was just kidding. Heroes in the comcs are a dime a dozen... heroes in real life, though, sometimes do things that even a comic book can't top---the only difference is, other people witnessed what Medal of Honor winners did. Reading these accounts, you can see what inspired many comic book writers who knew their history. All of the citations are available on the web--some of the accounts are d amn near incredible, but they actually happened. In that light, reading the true events as an adult gives life to what their juvenile comicbook heroes did every week, but in many cases the truth was even more incredible that what the comics depicted.
I can give a hint: It's quite possible that there will be mines in it

I'm still in therapy after Desert Fox. I don't even mow the lawn without sweeping for mines first!:D

This is truely great news.

I purchased a metal detector last year...hopefully I don't encounter mines with wooden casings.

I hear that Wild Bill has discovered how to make mines out of fiberglass now. :)
