c3k -> F-15X a possible game addition? (3/2/2019 11:03:16 AM)

The USAF is, apparently, in talks with Boeing about restarting acquisition of the (still being produced) F15. The F15X would bring all sorts of modern improvements beyond the F15SA and F15QA. Interestingly, the loadout would be massively larger than the current USAF's F15's limit: up to 22 Amraams, or 8 Amraams AND 28 SDBs; etc.

I understand that future-gazing can create some errors, but the F15X is a pretty solidly understood design.

Thanks.

There was confirmation that we would see it in an upcoming DB update. I'd wager it will be included in the game update released with the upcoming Desert Storm product.

Woot!

22 Amraams per, a flight of 4 F15s would bring 88 cylinders of air-to-air joy. Put them in datalink with some F35s and/or F22s and let the fun begin. ;)

Of course, that begets the question of the enhanced range slammer. If F15X's will be used as a "bomb truck", you've got to keep them far back. That means, kinematically, their missiles/other munitions will need to reach out that much further.

hmm....

I will be very surprised to see anything of that in real use. Not to mention that the F-15X will be going to the Air National Guard and I really can't imagine them being used as "bomb trucks" - they have their own duties :)

I read somewhere that the lastest DB includes the F-15X. Has anyone been able to find it? Thanks.

Kevin

Yes entry 4771. It marked as hypothetical so if your db viewer hypothetical filter is set to real life platform only won't see.

22 Amraams per,

You'd certainly want to link it with an F-35 - I can't imagine it doing any real maneuvering with that load on board!

Kevin, F-15X is in DB3000 v477 as a hypothetical aircraft

Darn it ... of course I have hypotheticals selected. Maybe it's a Steam thing? Or do I have to update the DB separately from the updates I get via Steam. Frustrating as all hell.

Hmm.. Having it also on steam and there is also no F-15X :/ Maybe the Database for the Steam Version is not up to date? Would you be so kind to check it? :)

It is. Remembers that when load scenario it load db it was made with so could be older. Load scenedit and take a look. Search for F-15X. It marked as hypotheticals so make sure your hypothetical filter set right.

Electrolf -> RE: F-15X a possible game addition? (4/11/2019 1:14:39 AM)

Yep I did not notice that. Sorry. Thank you for that, I did not notice that other missions load older versions of the DB.

I started my career as a flight test engineer on F-15E no. 1 (#86-183) in 1986. To see this airplane still in production going into the 2020s blows my mind.

Cheers,
CB
