I was reading Obverts aar recently, and a poster said that Mines do not work in river hex sides. Has anyone else noticed this?
I could not find another reference to this on the fourms and would hate to waste my limited supply.

Well, they might work against an in hex invasion or bombardment, but for ships traversing the river, no I have never been able to get them to work.

Mines seem to do absolutely nothing in the rivers. At least in the locations I tested, like Yangtsee from Shanghai to Nanking. No matter traversing, amphibious landing or bombardment TFs, 500 freshly laid mines in a hex never hit a single ship. Base/nonbase hex does not matter. Traversing through the hex or stopping in it also does not matter.

CDs (a pile of all existing CD Bns Japan has in Stock, 10+ units in the same ex as a minefield I tested above) were only active against amphibious landings and bombardments. And it was somewhat underwhelming experience, e.g. they were able to shoot up only 3 out of 15 APDs in a TF

Edit: not all the river hexes are bad. E.g. mines work at Palembang or Rangoon which are technically up the river. I do not know the pwhex specifics to look inside the narrow/wide straights coding (maybe?) to see if it differentiates mine-friendly river from non-friendly one.

Thank you for the info, I will deploy them elsewhere.
