Iamstrategygame -> Hello help with D21?! (3/24/2019 8:19:58 AM)

For directive 21 in some of the After action report, I see some player are able to reach Leningrad with army group north on turn 11. Conquer Smolensk in July. They are just doing unbelievable things and are able to recreate the time table of the real operation Barbarossa!

I just can't seem to match what they did, you see my problem is rail repair, I just can't seem to get my supply up. I put 3 rail repair train for each army group, 3 rail repair for each route. The problem is my supply, it is so low and my army has to stop pushing or be overextend.

Help me, what I'm I doing wrong?

I did the same, 3 or 4 RR Repair, embarked, at the end of the main rail line for each group. Sometimes they repair, sometimes they don't.

I don't think I reached Leningrad until like turn 35 or so, am must now trying to get through to the city (on turn 46)

Supply, at some point for Germans (I forget when, around turn 30 or so?) six mobile supply points become available, I learned those have to be well forward for the supply net to work.

I mentioned something about them in my AAR, you have to move them way up like I did at Leningrad.

I hope this helps!! Good luck!!

The D21 scenario is designed so that supply is a problem for the Axis because it was in the real life conflict as well. It's trying to be an accurate depiction of a real life situation that happened to the Axis in Russia. You can mod it if you wish.

Historically the first German supply trains reached Pskov on 24 July. That would be turn 8 or 9? Between 22 June and 19 July Army Group North had received 323 trains of supplies (160,000 tons). That does not include another 18,000 tons shipped up the Nieman River to Kaunas.

I believe German rail repair is typically under modeled in the East Front scenarios because of myths perpetrated through the years.

You think it should provide more supply to the Axis? I admit
that the scenario isn't as much fun as it could be given a
higher level of supply. Mod the scenario to give the Axis a
supply radius of 12 maybe?

It's never that easy. [;)]
