Majick -> British capitals and surrender (3/27/2019 10:41:04 PM)

Hi All,
In my current campaign as Germany I have invaded Britain and captured all it's potential capitals. No city is now marked as a capital in the British Isles.

Britain hasn't surrendered, but I can't identify where it's capital has moved to.

How can I tell where the capitasl has moved to?

And how can I force Britain to surrender? (the Russians are coming!!)

It's alternates are Canada (Ottawa, I believe) and Australia (not sure) where.

Ah right thanks. Does this mean Britain never surrenders?

Don't know, haven't gotten that far. But I believe that's their final move so if it's captured they should.

It does make it *practically* surrender proof, but not absolutely so. In your place, I'd focus on wiping them clear of the British isles and building some u boats to screen against a transatlantic invasion.

Of course I'm only a .500 player so maybe consider that as a suggestion, not a mandate! :)

I captured their last capital in Oz and they surrendered. It may take a few turns as surrender is no longer automatic by capturing capitals. You need to have inflicted a certain number of losses on them as well. So just keep killing units and they will eventually give up.

True. Even France doesn't fall automatically when Paris falls. My point is that capturing the capital in Canada isn't worth the effort when you have Russia on your doorstep.

On my doorstep? On my doorstep?? They kicked it in and are in the hallway!

In my game Ottawa and Canberra are both showing the same (i.e. capitol). But they are the capitals of Canada and Australia respectively and there's nothing to show either has become Britains national capitol :(

They can be nasty like that. Any chance the Japanese can hit them in the east? That might take some pressure off.

Hehe well the Japanese just Pearl Harboured the US, so I'm hoping the pressure will ease (for now)

Look for national borders. When the capitol moves to Canada most of Canada becomes UK territory with a small amount still held by Canada so it has two capitols. One for the UK and one for Canada. Not sure about Australia. I have never seen the UK move their capitol there.

It is not how much you kill technically. Each unit of that power still in the home country adds a cumulative modifier to resist surrender. I believe it is about 7% each in major powers and 14% in minors. This is rechecked every turn. In some cases (mostly the Soviets) surrender might be impossible even if you take all their capitols if they have enough units hidden elsewhere. Then you definitely have to go hunting.
