Agathosdaimon -> Stormpowered store - what is going on with it? (3/28/2019 12:13:34 AM)

Hi!

I was just trying to simply buy the Jutland Dogger Bank ship pack on teh stormpowered store, but there seems no way to actually process the order as the page goes blacnk or has 404 errors at the checkout screen - both in its application and in firefox and IE - and the customer support ticket section does not seem to work either. - is there anyone else i can contact? or is it all irreparably broken?

reason i wanted to buy the dogger bank ship pack is that the Jutland Pro Edition which i bought years ago, seems to only have the expansions as "express edition" which means they only feature short 10 min allowances for playing their scenarios

i posted this at wargamer but then thought that if Norm Kroger was behind Jutland, maybe there is someone here who might know more perhaps?

Jutland doesn't even work properly. Each time they 'fixed' it with patches it got worse and worse until it no longer works. However, there is one way you can still play it. Install the game on a computer that is NOT connected to the internet. This prevents the patches that destroy the game.

As far as any kind of support...you are on your own.

oh - i was just playing it yesterday on my windows 10 laptop - the only problem i encountered was that the dogger bank scenario ended after 10 minutes because it is only "express edition" and then the exit scenario buttons didnt work so i had to ctrl-alt-del the whole thing - thats kind of annoying, perhaps its not worth trying to get teh further expansions for it

i hold out the hope that a new game that is similar in scope can come out one day, until then i suppose i can stick with Steam and Iron and Great Naval Battles 5, and HPS's Jutland ....and SimCans Grand Fleet which i got direct from the maker of it. The Storm Powered Jutland game though had my interest because i believe it was modelling the actual trajectories of shells

When I play the patched version the English never come out. I can bombard every city in the Channel and not one English ship.

i can play it but my issue is just trying to get the Dogger Bank expansion - i have gotten the following script errors if i try to buy from the client application , and if i try to do it through a web browser it just goes blank

- in one instance i got a screen that said the browser was out of date for paypal and so needs to be updated first- that falls to whooever owns stormpowered to do i guess and they dont seem interested in doing that.

i have had some luck - though it wasnt easy, it seems that somehow by mere chance something i clicked on on the client brought up an old Internet Explorer 11 page - i dont know how and i cant find Internet Explorer 11 being installed on my computer what i have is just microsoft edge (wich i thought was IE but clearly i was wrong) - though Internet Explorer 11 I was able to purchase the expansions - great, but still indicates a very user unfriendly store

You are more of a risk taker than I. [:D]

My first look...

There "Fear God & Dread Nought" rules set is focused on 1906-1925 though if you like that era better...

i havent, i would like to play such games - i did pick up Victory at Sea WW1 version and also Seekrieg 4 a little while ago, and would like to make my own playing pieces - drawing up the ships myself one day

i finally played a decent game of Jutland last night and it was quite good, the british AI behaved believably opening the range to keep away from my destroyers and maneuvering to avoid torpedoes and then focusing their fire on my Koenig Albert BB and sank it(something catastrophic happened on it as it from what i can tell) and they killed Admiral Hipper himself in the Seydlitz - at least thats what the log told me
