Orm -> RE: What is wrong with this user name in the forum (4/18/2019 8:19:58 PM)

You don't accidently have a space, or enter, after your user name?

RudiTheGerman -> RE: What is wrong with this user name in the forum (4/19/2019 9:39:20 AM)

I checked NEtPlayReg - and no
it is unfortunately not that easy

Perhaps one of the characters is not standard English? Accents, graves, etc.?

RudiTheGerman -> RE: What is wrong with this user name in the forum (5/1/2019 1:16:53 PM)

This it the content of my NetPlayReg

RudiTheGerman
<password>
ruediger.klings@web.de
Frankfurt, Germany

I used a german keyboard for entering stuff.

Next try - delete the file and name me aaaaaa - or do I net to have the same name as in this forum?!

Centuur -> RE: What is wrong with this user name in the forum (5/1/2019 1:20:12 PM)

The only thing I can think about is the windows settings of your computer. If it is set on German, try to change that to English and see if that's a solution for your problem.

RudiTheGerman -> RE: What is wrong with this user name in the forum (5/1/2019 1:22:48 PM)

changing my user to aaaaaa had the following result:
UNable to access seeking opponent database

RudiTheGerman -> RE: What is wrong with this user name in the forum (5/1/2019 1:24:53 PM)

BUt then changing my username back to RudiTheGerman give the same error

The U may be the problem. Doesn't German use an umlaut or something with a U?

VPaulus -> RE: What is wrong with this user name in the forum (5/2/2019 11:30:20 AM)

I have used your account details (I had to temporarily reset your password) and I was able to login in in the forum.
The only thing I have changed was the password.
So or the issue is related with the password, although it doesn't make sense as the error message indicates an issue with the username and not the password, or somehow your NetPlayReg.txt file got corrupted.
I suggest first to delete the NetPlayReg.txt file and create a new one. Don't use a word processor to create the file, use instead a txt editor (like Windows Notepad).

If it isn't working then reset your password, one with numbers and letters only.
You can change the password at:
https://samelogin.slitherine.com/Manage/ChangePassword

RudiTheGerman -> RE: What is wrong with this user name in the forum (5/2/2019 7:50:31 PM)

I changed
my password to the password the forum reset gave me - only upper case letters
I changed my first name in the forum (which is not part of the username or the netplayreg.txt) from Rüdiger to Ruediger

(Note u and ü are two separate letters)

however I still get the message: Unable to access Seeking opponent database,
hence i can not post a new message

Centuur -> RE: What is wrong with this user name in the forum (5/2/2019 8:18:00 PM)

So: now you've got:

- General settings for you computer for Windows on US (and not on German language. remember: you are than using a US keyboard). This is not MWIF related, but a Windows setting.
- A user name with numbers and letters only which are the same in both MWIF and on this forum
- A password with numbers and letters only which are the same in both MWIF and on this forum

Netplayreg has your username and password exactly.

If that's the case, I don't know anymore what is wrong here. I'm out of options if these are all correct...

VPaulus -> RE: What is wrong with this user name in the forum (5/3/2019 9:27:18 AM)

Have you deleted the NetPlayReg.txt file, as I've suggested, and created a new one?

RudiTheGerman -> RE: What is wrong with this user name in the forum (5/6/2019 8:42:35 PM)

I have deleted NetPlayReg.txt
tried to open the forum - didN#t work, because NetPlayReg.txt was missing
created netplayreg.txt by saying new in the file explorer, opened it in NOtepad and entered the following data by hand

RudiTheGerman
<password>
ruediger.klings@web.de
Frankfurt Germany

tried it again -> unable to open seeking opponent database

paulderynck -> RE: What is wrong with this user name in the forum (5/7/2019 2:21:31 AM)

As mentioned, if your Windows environment setting is still German, then try changing it to English. It may be due to keyboard translation of some characters. You also need the file "NetPlayRegistration.txt" which should be a single text line of your game registration code.

RudiTheGerman -> RE: What is wrong with this user name in the forum (5/19/2019 2:04:16 PM)

HI Paul, I am still in denial that the windows system language or the keyboard language could be the rootcause for this issue.
However I did as told.
After I changed both, I rebooted the computer, deleted the NEtPlazReg and created a new one.

Same error Unable to access opponent seeking database

maz I suggest that the problem is on the server side

paulderynck -> RE: What is wrong with this user name in the forum (5/19/2019 5:12:01 PM)

Without some kind of debug access to what is happening on the server, I don't have any more theories. It is especially mysterious given the reply from VPaulus earlier (post #9).

I suggest contacting V Paulus. He should be able to find out what the server is doing.
