Allies invade France in may 1943. I'm just not prepared. Even on intermediate level.

Is there anything to do that will make them invade historically- June 1944?

I checked all the scripts.

He probably didn't do Torch in Africa, so he did France instead. Usually not a big deal once you get over the initial shock, he's pretty easy to defeat. Operate two tank units and a few Infantry units from the East Front. Use the Infantry to rope them off, use the Tanks to attack and eliminate units. The Allies are at a big disadvantage once you start eliminating their units in the beachhead because it takes a long time to rebuild and ship them back.

It's different against a human because the human WAllies will use bombers to ruin supply and rail cap in the lodgement area, making it fairly impossible to overcome.

The Allies may invade France early if diplomatic actions have pushed the US to enter earlier than they did historically, or as sPzAbt653 mentions, if the US AI did not also invade North Africa. This essentially allows the game to be reactive and dynamic in the sense that if the game plays out a bit differently than it did historically, you may see some alternate and logical outcomes by the Allied AI as well, i.e. such as an earlier the earlier invasion of France, because the Allied AI has the forces to do so, as you've seen in game.

Thanks,
He did try Torch but I sunk the AV's

I'll try for the containment in France but would hope he would invade June 44

Still got my hands full on the East.

FYI- Simply outstanding game. Much harder (more thinking) than past SC games.

BTW-Is the original SC a take off on that early game on Commodore 64- something "Steel" if I remember.

The way to beat Overlord, I think, is to build a lot of garrisons and give them the anti-aircraft improvement. Use them to blanket the coast, except the actual ports. Use corps to protect the ports and keep an army or two and a panzer nearby. If the landing force cannot get a port on the invasion turn, they'll be unsupplied and you should be able to wipe them out in a turn or two. I drove two early Overlords back into the sea that way in a situation like yours - I had controlled the Med and kept anything from getting in there to invade North Africa or Italy, so all the Allies could do was an early Overlord.

What the Allies do, is absolutely critical. That stock HQ-Omar Bradley + couple Armies is ready to roll in 1942. Where you going? Since these units come outta Fort Bragg, the Operands are 2-turns to Pacific. So, nah. We are head to Europe or Africa. Personally, I'm not a big fan of North Africa. Supply sucks. Plus, there's always somebody waiting for you to get there. I need my supply.

Problem with Overlord in 1942, is landing with Weakness, and Inexperienced Troops.......couple of those Supermen Panzers will be called back to France. Allies have to strike fast and decisively. Else, you be dead. Rommel will wake Hitler in 1942, and 2-Panzers, you're so hosed.

In rare cases, Denmark (peninsula only) might at least be safe. Norway is always possible, but supply there sux in long run. Really depends on your Navy and who controls the Sea(s).

Meanwhile, in Russia, Panzers are mauling whatever they see. Pray for Snow in the Eastern Front.

This game is fun!

The main issue is that the AI does not seem to evaluate the force ratio before planning.
I played with (inter alia) a +1 spotting bonus for the Allied AI (just helping to avoid nonsense operations).

So, with good weather, the AI could have spotted every location on the Channel.

Despite all this, and with Axis having complete air superiority, bombers and manned fortifications along the coast, the Allied AI tried to land in the spring 1943 : a dozen AVLs without air support and few surface ships as cover ... you can guess the outcome ...

Yes I was thinking about garrison unit blanket which would take 7-9 units. Adds up $ wise.
Going back 3 turns didn't work- 2 turn build, 1 turn ops. So I go back 4 turns I guess.
