gdpsnake1979 -> Update to 1.16 panzerfaust (5/3/2019 9:23:35 PM)

The update wont let any mods or the community pact scenarios run. It does not even see them in the list when you select a scenario to play. I re-downloaded the community pact and it installed in the proper folder (my documents/my games/ strategic command war in Europe/campaigns.
I also did the Fall Weiss 20 mod as well and it's correct but the menu doesn't show anything but the basic scenarios loaded with the game. I clicked settings and looked at the mods window and nothing is listed.
Is there some different way mods get loaded with this update? Does this update ends all the mod work? What's going on?
EDIT: Just as a try, I put the campaigns in the mod folders which made them show in the mod folder list but selecting a mod from here did not work either.

You'll need to download and apply the latest updated Community Pack which can be found here:

https://www.matrixgames.com/members/publicDL.asp?gid=714

Grab the 1.16.00 version of the Community Pack.

ADMIRAL3 -> RE: Update to 1.16 panzerfaust (5/4/2019 10:14:16 AM)

had same problem also after having applied both files :Upgrade and community pack . No mod campaign is visible in the menu.
Could you please submit a clearer example on how to reload the old campaign mod (fall weiss 20.0 for instance)

Fafnir -> RE: Update to 1.16 panzerfaust (5/4/2019 11:47:23 AM)

I started a new PBEM game with the 1.16 update and everything worked fine until turn 21.
The game is now shown in red and says 'this games has been modified or is not installed on your device()'.
I did not modify or install anything since the last turn.
Not sure if my opponend (Meaneye) did, but this should not have effect on ongoing games.
Is this a sever problem?

the_hunger -> RE: Update to 1.16 panzerfaust (5/4/2019 3:07:14 PM)

Yeah, I'm having the same problem with mods not showing up after the updates. I put the mods in the mod folder as directed by the readme, using path: Users\<username>\Documents\My Games\Strategic Command WWII - War in Europe\Mods\<modfoldername>. I also tried this path, which was recommended in the readme: Users\<username>\Documents\My Games\Strategic Command WWII - War in Europe\Mods\<modfoldername>\Campaigns. I did see under in-game settings a mod selection screen that allowed me to enable particular mods. However, this did not make it possible to play the mods; they did not appear in the playable campaign list when I tried to play a campaign.

Please fix this soon. It's a great game, and I really wanted to play a session last night. Also, I am considering buying SC: World at War, but will hold off to see whether this mod problem is fixed for SC: Europe at War.

If you extract, run and install the v1.16.00 Community Pack, it *should* update the Campaigns automatically for you, there is not much more I could say to make the process easier. The only thing I can suggest is to navigate to the following folder to see if it installed correctly:

C:\Users\<username>\Documents\My Games\Strategic Command WWII - War In Europe\

If it installed correctly, there should be two subfolders, a Campaigns subfolder with the most recent Community Pack campaigns installed and another one that essentially is a backup of the previous Campaigns folder with a date added to the end of the folder name.

Is this not the case?

You'll have to ensure you downloaded and applied the v1.16.00 Community Pack, not the older v1.10.00 version of the Community Pack, and it should install automatically for you with no further movement of files as it will install to this folder:

C:\Users\<username>\Documents\My Games\Strategic Command WWII - War In Europe\Campaigns

The MODS folder is for graphical mods, not campaign mods as outlined in the README file within the MODS folder.

Hope this helps, and if not let me know,
Hubert

That's an odd one, if you reinstall v1.16.00 patch, does it resolve the issue for you?

the_hunger -> RE: Update to 1.16 panzerfaust (5/4/2019 5:36:24 PM)

Okay, thanks for the advice, Hubert.

I fixed the issue this way:

--First, I uninstalled my copy of SC: Europe in War. I think that simply updating my already installed copy was the main issue. I also deleted all of the files under C:\Users\<username>\Documents\My Games\Strategic Command WWII - War In Europe (Please note: If, like me, you bought the game from Matrix with a serial key, locate your serial key before uninstalling the game!)

--Next, I re-installed my copy of the game, which is version 1.00

--Then, I installed the recent 1.16 update, which I just downloaded from the Matrix website.

--Next, I installed the Community Pack, version 1.16, which I also downloaded from the Matrix website.

--Then, I launched the game. All went well. In game, the Community Pack campaigns showed up under the "Single Player" tab. The installer automatically put them here: C:\Users\<username>\Documents\My Games\Strategic Command WWII - War In Europe\Campaigns.

The only problem that I had was that my own custom campaign was not showing up. This turned out to be an editor compatibility issue. My custom campaign was created with v1.14 of the game. I could not open it with the new 1.16 editor. So, I opened the new 1.16 editor and recreated the mod (it's a simple mod based on the stock 1938 "Storm over Europe" campaign that tweaks a few in-game variables, sounds, etc.). After I saved the mod in the 1.16 editor, it created a custom mod folder, .cgn file, and .dat file. These are located in the campaigns file, along with the community pack mods (C:\Users\<username>\Documents\My Games\Strategic Command WWII - War In Europe\Campaigns). In game, my custom mod appears in the same list as the other campaigns under "Single Player." It loads fine, but I haven't played through it yet. I'll report any problems.

Like with other games, a fresh re-install seems the best way to go with this new update.

gdpsnake1979 -> RE: Update to 1.16 panzerfaust (5/4/2019 8:54:24 PM)

Hubert,
There is a problem. I do exactly as you say but all I get is "windows cannot identify the device, drive or path or you do not have the permissions."
I've never had this problem before. I've downloaded multiple times so I think the files are bad? I've tried running as administrator, I've tried changing the permissions for users and my desktop, I even stopped the windows WMD service (never saw that in the list for matrix games before.)
I also had this same problem when I downloaded the 1.16 update which only worked after I got it off the FTP1 server third try.
EDIT: I've tried everything. I uninstalled the world at war game and reinstalled, I uninstalled the WW2 game and reinstalled, I've downloaded the 1.16 community pack over a dozen times from every possible source. No matter what I do, when I click on the EXE. file of the community pact it says Windows does not recognize the device, file, etc. or you don't have the permissions.
I've unzipped to every possible location to no avail. The games work fine, the basic scenarios are there, the games are in "my games" in documents. Nothing works, I can't get the community pact to even install. I give up. I need some ideas.

demyansk -> RE: Update to 1.16 panzerfaust (5/4/2019 10:59:57 PM)

Does Steam do this automatically? I have it installed both ways?

ADMIRAL3 -> RE: Update to 1.16 panzerfaust (5/5/2019 12:15:36 AM)

Ty Hubert for Your help, the problem was due to the lack of the community pack 1.10 in my game. Therefore I installed again both c/packs (1.10 and 1.16 in sequence)
and now the modded campaign are correctly showed and playable. Best regards

For previously designed campaigns prior to v1.16, we have included a campaign conversion tool that will update the campaign to the latest build standard.

This can be found in the installation folder for War in Europe under the Extras\Campaign Conversion folder.

There is a README file included which I advise going over first before running the tool.

To be honest I'm not sure why you'd be having these issues, assuming you've unzipped the Community Pack after download?

Your best bet might be to contact Matrix support and open a support ticket to see if they can help further as these packages/files are created on their end for the game.

No Steam does not, to get the update you need to go through Matrix.

Hubert Cater -> RE: Update to 1.16 panzerfaust (5/6/2019 1:23:58 PM)

Steam should automatically update the game for you as well.
