greenmoray1 -> Guadalcanal want to win! (5/8/2019 7:31:16 PM)

So I'm playing the 1942 Guadalcanal campaign 20 some turns. I originally moved my units to the shore perhaps using too much movement on my turns so I scrapped that and tried the half movement concept ..so if I had 15 moves I would move like 6 and half or sometimes a bit more with my ships, but it takes forever and it's only 20 4 turns or so. Seems like there are wayyyy more Japanese then my units even when they are reinforced. Now when I right clicked on each of these guys I put first board ships and then mobile minimal losses and with the air (by the way I have no idea what is up with how to use the air in this game) I understand the choices but what to do ...don't know really..I understanding stacking and the reports commanders and unit ….I mean what is listed there. Understand a simple attack and planned attacks for the most part. My biggest frustration with this game is trying to understand why all of a sudden ...seems like no matter what I do ...I cannot move the unit. For example: I moved my marine raiders and other units onto the beach at the port (for some reason I couldn't just go straight to the beach directly in front. Wouldn't let me go forward ..nope had to go in through the anchor symbol port.) So to continue I moved most of my marines onto the beach /port and in land but for some reason another group that was just right in front of the port ready to go on land ...I right clicked and chose mobile and nothing ..then I tried dividing the units... nothing and then I started just trying everything from embark disembark which I thought would solve the problem ...disembark...but no matter what I did the unit would not move. and this is after several turns...what gives? I guess I don't understand how come several units just don't move or really do anything ...How does the Air work in this game? I understand support in the planned attack screen but what if I just want to hit other units with my air power...how do you do that and please give me specific directions in the game do this and that vs. explaining theory. Then when I finally get my units trying to conserve movement strength and power with my units in a strong group attack from three to 4 different marine and other units against like one Japanese xx I think and OK the planned was successful ….and then next turn when I put my guys to dig in and defend on the enemy's turn ...that's it I got wiped out I mean units gone. WTF ...I don't get it. How the heck do you play this game. I have a hunch that the creators of these games somehow lean the win probability toward the axis powers because ...well it's payback...by computer game. The axis AI always seems stronger not equal but stronger. I like playing allies not axis. I checked you tube about this game ….old version tutorials are there but since I have version 4 it doesn't apply. No real info on this game ...yes there's a manual. Why dont'these games include like clear video examples like they give in Operation Barbarossa ...with the Aussie guy going thru the steps....have u seen that? Clear, easy to follow, and apply. How can you move guys that all of sudden just won't move....how to use air and wtf is the air assistant and how exactly to use it in the game. Again...good game ….many scenarios but don't care for newbies ..targeted to niche players. They mention advanced rules playing and standard.....maybe I should play standard first....but I don't know even how to really do that. I want to win in Guadacanal...remember 20,0000 plus Japanese against a way smaller number of determined marines shooting a crossfire and mowed them down...We did that..No way the Japanese win. Show me how ….what steps did u take in the campaign?
