Donna Reed was gorgeous and lit up Its a Wonderful Life. She wasn't in Casablanca, was she?

Canoerebel -> RE: Men Lacking Judgment (6/25/2019 2:41:42 AM)

Eva Marie Saint barely makes it into the pre-1960 category. She had a starring role alongside Carey Grant in North by Northwest. Here sultry "Hello!" was enough to make any man...quiver.

RangerJoe -> RE: Men Lacking Judgment (6/25/2019 3:37:40 AM)

Donna Reed was in 7 movies in 1942 and Casablanca was not one of them. I don't think that Bacall was in that one either.

Bacall was not discovered until 1944's To Have And Have Not.

Has anyone mentioned Hedy (not Hedley) Lamarr?

It's a Wonderful Life...great movie...great casting...James Stewart's WW2 story is very compelling and makes him one of my most admired hollywood actors.

MakeeLearn -> RE: Men Lacking Judgment (6/25/2019 4:07:21 AM)

Marie Windsor. Had a great screen persona especially in Stanley Kubrick's The Killing.

Hedy Lamarr - very beautiful and very intelligent. A nice package in total. She had an idea for electronics that is still useful today.

I clicked the link in your post (see screenshot below). It refers to Donna Reed but displays a Casablanca photo of Ingrid Bergman (and Humphrey Bogart).

In the category of beautiful and intelligent, there is also Tallulah Bankhead.

Man, just look at the size of her life jacket. No wonder she is always on top. Unsinkable!

warspite1 -> RE: Men Lacking Judgment (6/30/2019 4:45:50 AM)

Well for those men who a) really do lack judgement, b) aren't afraid to take themselves too seriously and c) understand that it is their duty to use the votes that previous generations gave their lives for, there is a really important competition underway in the General Discussion forum.

Over the last few weeks a competition has been raging to uncover (fnarr, fnarr) the most beautiful character from Game of Thrones. We have now reached the final round or, as the French would say, La Grande Finale, or something.

The two young ladies that have battled their way to this stage are Daenerys and Ygritte.

Perhaps I can tempt some of you to do your masculine duty, lay down your metaphorical cloak on the mud, and help out a damsel in distress? If you feel that this bit of nonsense is not beneath you then please feel free to pop along to the GD forum (link below) to register your vote.

Go on, you know you want to....

http://www.matrixgames.com/forums/tm.asp?m=3083586&mpage=342&key=

(The final detail starts from post 10,250, but its simply a case of choosing which of the two ladies raises your smile, and you can then post the name). Don't worry, as with all voting booths your name and who you vote for is entirely secret and won't be known to anybody else - unless of course they read the post in which case they will know exactly who cast their vote for who.

Canoerebel -> RE: Men Lacking Judgment (6/30/2019 4:51:33 AM)

Can you participate if you've never seen Game of Thrones?

Mate! You are a bloke. You will have before you pictures of two very attractive young ladies. Essentially you are looking to choose which one make you think of Giant Redwoods. Yes, if you've never seen a second of Game of Thrones and even if you've never seen either of these two young actresses before, then you can most certainly still vote. [:)]

Canoerebel -> RE: Men Lacking Judgment (6/30/2019 5:01:55 AM)

Okay, I'm in. I'll visit and vote (but I have no idea what a "bloke" is - it doesn't sound good).

Good man.

No a bloke is not bad [;)] (although one could be a bloke and be a bit of a naughty). Bloke aka chap, man, guy, geezer, fellow, lad, gent, fella, dude or gentleman

Who do you call masculine?! [sm=nono.gif]

Mike Solli -> RE: Men Lacking Judgment (6/30/2019 1:28:26 PM)

I voted. I'll admit I've only seen about 10 minutes of Game of Thrones, once when the Army sent me to Chicago for a conference and I was bored out of my gourd one evening. The 10 minutes I saw? It was when Sean Bean got axed. [8|]

Zorch -> RE: Men Lacking Judgment (6/30/2019 4:16:48 PM)

If you've only seen Sean Bean get axed once, you haven't seen enough movies.

In LOTR it was black arrows, not an axe, what done 'im in.

WTF? Why didn't you spend that valuable time recalculating precise port assignments for all the Aden-class resource CS convoy xAKs? Priorities man!

Ian R -> RE: Men Lacking Judgment (7/1/2019 3:35:07 PM)

Older, and a ton of make up, is not necessarily better.
