CSSS -> Instruction on how to install a MOD? (6/28/2019 2:11:10 AM)

My age is showing as how do you add a MOD to a Steam download? Step by step please?

Hi CSSS,

1) If it is a customized campaign, then you just need to download it from the source, extract it if it was compressed, and then copy the campaign file (as well as the subfolder) to the following folder on your PC, typically this path:

C:\Users\<username>\Documents\My Games\Strategic Command WWII - World at War\Campaigns

You just need to ensure it is a customized campaign that is compatible with the game you are playing, i.e. a World at War customized campaign.

2) If it is is a graphical mod, then it is the same steps as above, download, extract, and then place it within the following folder on your system:

C:\Users\<username>\Documents\My Games\Strategic Command WWII - World at War\Mods\<modfoldername>

The only catch here is that it needs to be structured accordingly, as per the README.txt file in the Mods folder. The Iron Cross mod is one of these mods:

Hope this helps and let me know if you get stuck,
Hubert

Forgot to mention, to enable a graphical mod in game after you install it, such as the Iron Cross mod, you'll just need to go to the SETTINGS->MODS screen and select the mod from the list and click on the little box to the right of the mod which will check off an 'X' and then turn on the mod in game.

is there any hope that eventually it will make it into a steam community section where we can just check mark which mods we want on the game (similar to city skylines or total war)?

Is the install the same for Steam?

on steam i believe that translated too -

customized campaign
"C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Strategic Command WWII World at War\Community Pack\Campaigns"
graphical pack
"C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Strategic Command WWII World at War\Community Pack\Mods"

Yes, it would be the same on Steam as both versions use the same USER folder for custom campaigns and mods.

It would not be advised to use these folders for USER content as these folders will eventually be used for our Community Pack release for World at War.

We will be looking to release a Community Pack for World at War much like we did for War in Europe where yes, all you'll have to do is check off the add on and it will automatically be added to the game.
