TheElf -> A little help with WitP Tracker (6/29/2019 5:27:11 PM)

Hey guys, I'm sure I'm dense and this info is available somewhere but I cannot get the history function of the tracker to work. I am back in a game for the first time in ages and am trying to learn the tracker.

Do I have to have multiple saves in the tracker to get it to register and show the history data for resources, airframes, engines and the like?

If so how do I do that?

Thanks! This community rocks!

Multiple saves yes. Iuse the "read multiple turns" option then point to the save folder. Turn on "multiple turns read" (or so) and you will get a list of turn (=saves) that can be loaded.

Select the turns click ok and it will give you a history, may take a while to compute

Ok great. Thanks Alpha. But how does it read multiple saves if the turns are overwritten in the save folder? Are you purposely saving multiple turns in different slots and then pointing to them?

I may be wrong but I think you need the -archive switch....GP

geofflambert -> RE: A little help with WitP Tracker (6/29/2019 5:50:26 PM)

It doesn't work after just one turn. I think two will do. Yes on the archive switch. Won't work without it. Can't believe you need help with anything.

haha, Right. Tell my wife that.

I see what I was doing wrong. I need to rename each save wps025.1. - .2 - .3 etc. My files were overwriting.

Thanks!

NO!

Pick one save slot in WITP AE . It will be your Tracker slot for the whole campaign. Say , slot 004.

After each resolved game turn, you overwrite this slot, and after each turn you copy this Tracker save file from WITP AE 's SAVE folder ,and drop the file in the main Tracker folder. This will continously overwrite the 004 file sitting in the Tracker maina folder with new data.

Then you open Tracker and click Read Turn and voila!

You do not need the -archive switch for Tracker. You do need it for Combat Reporter.

That is what I am doing now. Except When I click on the History tabs, it does nothing.

Gents, I am getting mixed signals now. Which is it?

Yaab -> RE: A little help with WitP Tracker (6/29/2019 6:44:00 PM)

There is a drop-down bar saying "Show all turns". Default setting is "current turn " or something

BillBrown -> RE: A little help with WitP Tracker (6/29/2019 6:46:04 PM)

Where Tracker looks for files is defined in the witptracker.properties file.

# WitPTracker AE properties file
# Directory of the game
Dir=[d:\War in the Pacfic Admirals Edition\PBEM travis scen 100]
# Type of game. 0=AI, 1=PBEM
GameType=[1]
# Side you are playing. 0=Japan, 1=Allies
Side=[1]
# Password. Only needed for PBEM
Password=[xxxxxx]
# Name of the base save file
SaveFile=[wpae007.pws]
# Mode the program will look for save files.
# 0 = just in the local folder
# 1 = just in the game folder: [Dir]/SAVE
# 2 = local and then if not found there, the game folder
SaveMode=[1]

# Text to put in the header of the main window
Header=[PBEM Keith Scen 2]
# Turn cycle (days per turn). 1 or 2 are supported
TurnCycle=[1]

@ BillBrown: Yes this is from the WitP Tracker setup file. I have a the local and then if not found there, the game folder selected. I select mutliple turns and only one turn shows up in the dialogue. I cannot view multiple turns of data from a series of saves. The "History" function of various tabs does nothing.

I assumed I was doing something wrong, perhaps by not renaming my save file WPS025.pws to something else and then pointing the tracker to a folder with around 5 .psw files in it.

fx. WPS025.1
WPS025.2
WPS025.3

Point the tracker to the directory and select read multiple turns. THAT makes sense. What Yaab is saying does not.
But Yaab seems convinced that none of that is necessary.

@ Yaab: Are you reading multiple turns and getting "history" data for resources and such?

Yaab -> RE: A little help with WitP Tracker (6/29/2019 7:09:58 PM)

Yes, I am reading multiple turns with info for all Tracker tabs.

In your setup, you save your game in 007 slot after every turn, copy the overwritten file into the Tracker folder, start Tracker and select Read turn.

Alpha77 -> RE: A little help with WitP Tracker (6/29/2019 7:49:23 PM)

Yes, you can also copy each save to the tracker directory, it will read this automaticly I believe in this case...

TheElf -> RE: A little help with WitP Tracker (6/29/2019 8:09:05 PM)

Multiple turns doesn't work. I get no history data.

Yaab -> RE: A little help with WitP Tracker (6/29/2019 8:16:42 PM)

Clarification. Im my method , I start Tracker, go to "Turn" and select "Read turn". Once loaded, I set the "Filter" field to "Turn: All." I never use the "Turn" > "Multi-turn read..." option.
