Hi I was reading through the manual, and I think I might have found why the convoy isn't working but thought i'd ask anyways.

I've taken over the NEI for nearly 6 months and i'm not getting any resources off the island, the convoy is white. I think I read something about the port needing to be at strength 5? Is that correct, if so how can I fix it?

Hi Celebrindal,

Both the source and destination ports need to be above strength 5, can you tell me if both are below, or just the one and if so which one?

The source is only 4, I think if that's the case I'd say that's a bit of a design flaw. There are other ports, along the rail lines on the island that are 5, it should use those as alternatives. To go 6 months without being able to get any oil out of the NEI seems a bit harsh.

Any way to fix the port by spending resources?

Interesting, loaded up the game and now there is a blue convoy line. Coming out of Oosthaven. Even tho Soerabaja was over 5 for quite some time..just loaded up a saved game from two months earlier and Soerabaja was 5 then and it the convoy line was white and wasn't coming from that port. The resources are connected by rail to the city so....

Scorched earth when they fall to the Japanese will account for some damage to the port.

The only additional causes would be enemy action, but as the port repairs by 1 point per turn ordinarily it should be no more than 5 turns before the convoy starts working if the enemy aren't interfering.

Seems a bit harsh, I think it should be a reduction in resources coming out until it's back to 5. Something simple like 20% per point.. to go from 0 to 77 seems a bit lopsided.

Game play wise it is more along the lines of the port has been heavily damaged beyond normal functionality, i.e. blocking all convoys until sufficient repairs have been made. A minimum port strength of 5 is the universal minimum throughout the map for any similar situation.

In turn, this then provides players with a few different ways to hit convoys, which is to raid them directly, or to damage the ports involved to temporarily shut them down etc.
