JohnOsb -> Southern Storm (7/17/2019 1:57:50 AM)

Its been a long time since I was last on here.

Quick question, you mention multi-monitor. I'm assuming that I can use more then one monitor to play this up and coming game?

Right now I'm reading Northern Fury a WW3 Novel and playing the scenarios on Command Modern Air/Naval Operations game.

It's getting my interest back into Southern Storm.

When Southern Storm comes out will have to make some scenarios using CMANO and fight the land battles on Southern Storm.

JohnOsb, yes. The new UI will have the ability to move information panels to other screens.

Hi,

Currently there are a few unit special attributes that the game does not use...….. will they all be functional in SS??

Rob.

CapnDarwin -> RE: Southern Storm (8/22/2019 1:47:33 AM)

Rob, the new specials lists are 10x greater than they were for RS and we will be working to get as many applicable codes as we can wired into the Cold War engine. Many more codes and types this time around. It will make for more detailed items, but it takes time to get it all into the data files, coded up, tested, tested for the AI, and documented. A far amount of that going on now and will be over the next few months. Any in particular that you are looking for? [8D]

Thanks for the info...…..

Rocket assisted projectiles and ground level radar would be nice to have...……

Good heavens. This Flashpoint game is astonishingly good. And you are making something better?

Deathtreader, the quote in your signature is quite funny. Was that a real thing or something from a movie? That sounds just like something I would say if I was in command.

CapnDarwin -> RE: Southern Storm (8/23/2019 12:32:26 PM)

@Rob - Those items are a part of the lists. Hopefully, we get all of those bits rolled out with the initial release, but if not we will be adding features and tweaking the game engine as we go forward.

@GiveWarAchance - We would like to think so and we think players will too once they play it.

Hi,

The quote is from a fictitious main character in a series of historical (mis)adventures written by George McDonald Fraser.
Good reading!

Rob.

Deathtreader oh no. I was hoping there was a real commander as sloppy and non-technical as I am.

CapnDarwin, that's good news. I think it will take awhile for me to play through Flashpoint but I will buy your new game when it comes out.

I am wondering about the game Armored Brigade also from this website. I don't have it but wonder if it is similar to Flashpoint? Is that game popular with Flashpoint players? Maybe it is more complex? I like the user-friendly style of Flashpoint.

Regarding Armored Brigade, I’ve had quite similar questions yesterday and found two deeply interesting threads searching the game’s forum: “Standard mode and round mode” and especially “Is this game not best played in 3 minute rounds?”.
I have not bought yet, so I have no experience; not bought mainly because: there is no replay of rounds as FPCRS offers it, and the game lacks in multiplayer functionality.

AB is a tactical level game with single vehicles and squads/teams. It is more a pauseable realtime game, but you can set a "turn timer" to play it in a turn based fashion. I would say complexity is roughly the same, but focused in different areas. Check out one or more of their gameplay videos to get a better feel for what the game has and does.

GiveWarAchance -> RE: Southern Storm (8/24/2019 4:26:56 PM)

I watched some of the youtube gameplay of Armored Brigade and I was severely tempted to buy the game. The youtube video sounds very technical and you have to be very careful with every unit and position and I am usually not good at detailed technical gameplay. I like how Flashpoint uses platoons and stuff instead of single units which makes it easy to manage and is more forgiving although I have lost a lot of tanks to Soviet aircraft bombing them. In one strike I lost a whole Leopard tank platoon (I think it was four brand new Leopard 2 tanks blown apart) that was trying to move across the map to the contested area.

I prefer the graphics in Flashpoint with the lush green terrain and the unit icons look really good with the vibrant green, red etc colors for nations are perfect. It makes the Flashpoint game look sophisticated.

But almost guaranteed I will buy Armored Brigade with the Italy & Yugo dlc too after a bit. I used to play Steel Panthers so I think this AB game is like a hugely upgraded version of Steel Panthers.

I will much prefer real time with pausing sometimes for orders. I like that style from playing roleplaying games.
I am interested in Armored Brigade cause I like the Cold War era and after that. On the forum, they are talking about expanding to different eras but I wish they would stay in the cold war era.

I almost never play multiplayer so I don't need it. I am too wary of exploits people always use in games so I prefer to stick to single player.

Tejszd -> RE: Southern Storm (10/13/2019 5:49:46 PM)

Any update on how things are progressing?

CapnDarwin -> RE: Southern Storm (10/14/2019 12:45:30 AM)

We will be hopefully making some announcements soon on the kickoff of our new website, starting a hunt for a handful of early beta testers, maybe a screen shot or two. We are a couple weeks behind with a loss of data on my end and I have been working to rebuild blown up national files and fighting a flu/sinus infection the past week to boot. Work is ongoing as we hook up and tweak features and do bug fixes. Plus a ton of documentation for this Cold War Series release starting with Southern Storm. As soon as we get a better feel for timing of exact announcements we'll let forks know. [8D]

CapnDarwin -> RE: Southern Storm (10/28/2019 5:36:28 PM)

Yep, we are working hard and grinding through a couple of issues. Hopefully more news in the near future. [8D]
