Raverdave -> O/T (8/17/2003 10:12:04 AM)

Bloody hell..............these tossers have only got eight weeks to find some form before the world cup.:eek: Can they do it? Well looking at last nights game against the ABs, I would have to say no. There does not seem to be the drive or hunger. And howzat AB back line? The ABs defence played well...real well infact.

My thoughts on who will win the world cup........hmmmm.......well I would rank the teams in the following order:-

1 England

2 NZ

3 Aussie

4 Sud Af-rik-a ;)

The Wallabys have a tough road ahead.

wobbly -> Bledisloe returns home (8/17/2003 10:40:32 AM)

And man am i nursing a hangover or what - phew my heads feels the size of a pumpkin and its kind of expanding and contracting with each heart beat.
I don't think the Aussies have too much to worry about - things definately seem on the improve.
As for the All Blacks they really have to sort out the lineout and can someone lend Carlos some kicking boots - he missed 15 points for F sake!!

And world cup rankings - i know as a Kiwi - to discount the French is to court disaster and the Argies are definately in the hunt (although they don't often play well away from home.

Ah Campisie...he was a very entertaining player.

Whenever he got the ball, something always happened...either one of his jaw-dropping blunders or scintillating brilliance:D

Ha ! The French and the Argies ! They aren't even worth the bandwidth to talk about!:p :rolleyes:

Luskan -> (8/17/2003 9:35:29 PM)

If the wallabies don't beat the french and the argies, australia will stop playing rugby altogether.

As for Raver's CVs - they were sighted mid coral sea, much like I expected them to be. Then they disappeared for two turns. If I'd been spotted that far away from home, I'd have returned to base, but not Raver - no he backed up for a turn, and is on course for Koumac or Rockhampton with cvs, oilers, and a ****load of surface combatants.

herbieh -> Wobblies head (8/18/2003 4:22:36 AM)

I hope wobbly sends a turn while hung over, I need all the help I can get!

Stuff the rugby, go Sydney Swans!

Argentines. You know, South America.

I played their military team years ago when they toured the states. Had to play at night after working that day. Only full match I played as a hook without a day's beard growth. Nasty game. Chippy bunch.

Like to see the Eagles post a good showing. God knows, can't expect too much from them :( .

You Aussies should be able to seem some good games.

If the All Blacks can kick a few points, like their chances.

Can't believe Raver is picking the pommies.

Yeah I know.............it pains me to say it, but you have to give credit when its due.....and the pommie side is in great form at the moment.....unlike their cricket team. :D

Luskan has gone to ground..........I can't even find a six foot tinnie to sink !:(

Luskan -> (8/19/2003 10:01:53 PM)

Well folks Raver did something I've never seen him do before - he pulled back once he was discoevered, rather than try to push his troops through anyway. A lot of p39 pilots at townesville or marine wildcats at Luganville are alive because of his decision - I had loads of aircraft to throw at his escorting and capping zeroes but at this early stage of the game not many of them would have survived (although I felt sure I'd at least score a couple of hits on his cvs - now I've got beaufighters at 100 ft I've be assured of some strafing runs!).

A big success this turn, the i-28 was caught and sunk by Yank force with 8 depth charges of luganville. Yank force now has a few kills (couple of subs) without taking damage - which when compared to Oz force, that hasn't sunk anything yet and has had 3 cruisers and 3 dds crippled and very nearly sunk for shooting down a total of 4 vals . . . well it doesn't really make them look very good.

Reinforcements have bumped Oz Force's numbers up to their initial size, but I had to empty the "Backup" group to do it. I'd love a bit more heavy firepower - even if it comes from the bottom of pearl harbour.

At the moment all preparations for the top secret new SOPAC/SWPAC Operation is underway. Operation Lizard will launch very soon, under the cover of complete secrecy. Security is airtight and Raver's spies have no idea what Operation Lizard entails! He'll find out the hard way soon enough.

If Lizard is a success, then there will be several followup missions, which have already been planned out and agreed upon. These subsequent operations are Operation Political Correctness and then Operation Vomit Bag.

Drex -> (8/19/2003 10:22:10 PM)

Operation Vomitbag sounds downright repulsive however it is original.

Luskan -> (8/21/2003 10:47:57 PM)

Resounding success with this turn!

To begin with, one of my subs sights enemy transports at Buna. This was expected, since Raver kicked me off PM, PNG has become a supply problem for him. Not only does he need to pull his tired troops out (and leave as small a garrison with as many CD and AA guns as possible) he also needs to ship the odd engineer unit/base force in, as well as mountains of supply to keep the overland supply route working. At Lae that is an immense amount of supply (especially if he is going to build Lae up to house bombers and fighters just out of MRB range like I should have) required to supply PM. If he has 100k supply at lae, buna and dobadura - basically even with all my bombing efforts PM won't be out of supplies for about 3 or 4 months (plenty of time to sneak more in).

So Raver's transports were expected - and my sub was waiting for them. Brilliant. What I didn't expect was my relatively low experience, fairly low morale and high fatigue mitchells and hudsons at cooktown (which with their shorter range marauder cousins have kept an average of 60 medium bombers over PM every turn for 10 or 11 turns (no thunderstorms to rest through just yet), managed to launch at Lae, and come up wtih some results. I doubt if any of the transports will sink - maybe one - and IJN transports repair so fast at Truk or Rabaul that they can knock off 30 sys a month almost, so it only inconveniences Raver at best, however it means that he'll have to delay his next supply convoy until after some base forces and zeros have been shipped into dobadura/buna or more likely Lae.

To compound this surprising success at this early stage (moving SWPAC to Cooktown really makes a difference to the allied bombing effort - just like moving SOPAC to Luganville!) Operation Lizard has begun without flaw or interference from Raver. Yank force (larger and badder than ever wiht lots of new reinforcements that are using this as a shake down cruise), Brute Force (designated name for my CV task force), and many transports have arrived at Gavigamana and thousands upon thousands of allied troops are pouring ashore with enough supplies to last them until the end of the war. Mine layers have completed the defensive minefield around Gavigamana, and Lots of aircraft are at Luganville waiting for Raver to show. Unlikely, but we can hope.

If I had to guess, I'd say Raver's only got transports inbound for Nevea for a bigger build up prior to an attempt at Luganville (good luck!). Without winning some sort of major battle against Brute Force and Yank Force, the troops on Luganville are in no danger (not to mention the fact that I've packed plenty of troops in there for just such an autovictory attempt.

Don't have enough fighters there to really dent Raver's CV air arm if it comes to play, but that will improve with time. Plenty of bombers at Koumac, Efate etc. to offset things.

Within two to three turns Operation Political Correctness will be given the official go ahead or be canned.
