dumb_user -> Blitzkrieg: How do I win the Kiev scenario? (7/30/2019 3:31:56 PM)

One of the primary objectives is "Destroy or rout 100 ground units".
When exactly is a unit routed? When it leaves its position as a consequence of an attack?

A secondary target is to connect the towns of Mirgorod, Romny and Konotop. I think I did this (see attached screenshot), but I got no green check mark. I understand connect as creating one uninterrupted German territory in which all three towns are located. That's what I did and, in addition, that territory was also connected to all my other territories, so that there was an uninterrupted chain of supply.

I don't know what else to do. Any ideas?

The mission as stated is "Destroy or rout 100 ground units." In the scenario editor, I was able to see that this literally means over 99 (i.e., 100 or more) German land units must be made "Unavailable." This apparently means a combination of "Destroyed" and "Exited." Destroying units is self-evident but exiting is not explained in the scenario.

From what I can see, connecting a supply route between Mirgorod, Romny, and Konotop is important even though it's a secondary objective. The mission says "Sealing off routes of retreat for the Soviet forces around Kiev will cause panic among the enemy troops" and that means 10 units will be directed to Exit the Map. When you have taken Kiev and reduced the Red Army to less than 25 units, 4 more will leave. Moreover, certain Soviet land units whose strength has been reduced to below 4 will be told to Exit the Map. All of these exited units count toward the "Destroy or rout 100 ground units."

As far as the "Connect Lubny, Romny, Konotop" itself, it should work but I can see a possibility of where it might fail in that the trigger is set for Capture VP Event. If you captured Lubny, Romny, Konotop but have not cleared the territory in between them yet, then the trigger will not activate until you capture the next VP, if any. I'd say it's a design flaw; it should be "Any Event."

P.S., I reported that issue in the Slitherine Bug Reports forum.

Thanks, Bru888.
I will try to make more Soviet units exit.
Meanwhile I played the scenario again, this time achieving the secondary objective. Whether it is, because I cleared the territory I can't tell.
The objective is to connect Mirgorod, not Lubny, and the other two towns. Funny that the editor says Lubny.

One of the developers acknowledged the oversight and said it will be fixed, so thanks for reporting it. Fortunately, the trigger does address Mirgorod, not Lubny, and the mission also mentions Mirgorod, so no harm done there. It's only labeled incorrectly in the trigger name.
