Just looking at this and it looks interesting. 1 thing strikes me just before I start, is the America group, the DDG 144 and the Wisconsin all supposed to be 1 group?

Another thing that has just struck me is the lack of support from Land based airfields such as Roosevelt Roads or Guantanamo bay. There are no refueling resources closer than Homestead?

The storyline will depict worries of strikes on nearby bases necessitating removal of many assets to CONUS. I had however intended to use Roosevelt Roads...and still had it in the oob as recently as the 12th version of this scenario in June, but whittled it down to only what I actually used in my own run throughs (and never actually used the air based there)… probably in the "final" version I will also remove one of the carrier groups, but have not been able to win the scenario myself without at least minimal effort from all of them yet...and usually even that is in the "good weather" variant... this poor weather one has been a challenge without them on 8 of the 10 trials myself thus far.

I would second having Roosevelt Roads in play as well as more tankers stationed somewhere in CONUS so that a player can re-position them to RR. If you're going to cut a CVN (not suggesting that you do) I would remove the 2nd one from the eastern pair.

There is certainly a lot going on and I am quite enjoying it - have not yet seen daylight of the first morning yet though. Biggest problem is to keep an eye on things so that I don't lose assets because I had forgot about them... Grrr

A concern is the SOF insertion - very high risk. A few thoughts:

1) The brief doesn't really give any indication of where they should go, so the player is expected to read the designers mind a bit.
2) Letting players mess with RPs is a sure fire way of getting things screwed up. You've done all the right things by naming them etc, but as an old boss of mine often said '...as sure as there's cold Sh#@t in a dead cat' it will get messed up.
3) Method of entry is very unlikely - these guys would go into this situation either from a sub or a HALO jump (maybe HAHO), certainly not by helicopter.
4) The player would not generally control them, and definitely not the operating location.

A couple options/suggestions:

a) Have everything pre-set and the SOF on another side - the player needs to protect them and gets some benefit but does not control them.

b) Have the destination set (locked RPs) with an offset trigger zone to represent a HALO/HAHO jump (see Northern Fury Vagar Vengeance)

c) Have a similar set up but with an LA Flt 1 SSN and a DDS (see Pole Positions)

d) Have them in place at the start but on a different side.

Just some thoughts - this scenario is a blast, but distracting me from building/fixing my own...[:D]

I have to say that lessons learned from several of yours, Gunner98, went into this series... I especially altered the original "first day" after playing through your first day and seeing how much fun (and how hectic") many things happening in different areas of the same region could be...originally this single scenario was split East/West...but had such a blast with yout "opening day" that I combined the two to give the 'harried' feeling ...and added with not being entirely sure WHEN groups will go hostile, stepped even that up a notch.

I have hesitated on the SOE insertions a few ways...originally had them flown in by HALO but deleted the base I based those aircraft at...probably will end up adhering to either your a0 or d)… the idea of a separate side for them is a very good one, thank you.

They were originally one group, but I almost always split them off, so I actually ended up saving this with them split off.
In the poor weather conditions of this particular scenario, especially trying to (spoiler again lol) locate the dozens of MANPADS sites around all objectives which almost always will destroy lowflying recon UAVs and low flying helicopters trying to insert teams...having enough "separate groups" to see everything has often been an issue.

What as an alternative you use RR and base some units there and lose one of the carriers? You could use some bombers for example B-1s.You get a good offensive power but the down side is that once you use them you lose them for 18 hours while they reload?

When you say story line does that mean their are popups coming to give more information?

I am mostly through this scenario as US. I really like it. I used a large number of MALD-J and ITALD to distract the enemy airforce while I bombarded the ships and air defenses with AARGMs and SDBs. Then moved my Hellcats forward to intercept the enemies at their airbases. Lost a sub due to poor positioning, a few Attack helicopters before I knew there were MANPADS, and some Super Hornets when I thought the Russian airbase was shut down, but surged some defense fighters. A few comments.

1. Should the enemy sides be set to weapons free and set to auto detect neutrals (after they turn hostile of course)? Right now as long as the enemy cannot ID the stealth aircraft they can be detected and fly with impunity over the enemy airspace, and with the weather as it is, if they don’t have aircraft above the clouds then it’s hard for them to ID the stealth jets. I would expect them to consider anything not IDd to be hostile during this scenario.

2. One of the ships in the America group has some air to ground weapons in it’s weapons record like paveway bombs.

Selchu… yes, although I am torn on some of it. Trying to keep this scenario limited to the region specifically, and using almost any tool I can think of to do that...originally included US bases in Louisianna , PR, Texas, and NC, but the storyline really would also demand Russian (and Cuban) bases in Cuba, and in Brazil then also...so came up with a storyline for a way to explain them not being involved in this first scenario of the series. :)

I am wondering how the changing weather affected operations... I have spent a long time trying to make some realistic weather... this version still has a few holes in that regard- there is a chance for rain with no clouds lol... but it remains fairly steady nowm with just enough cloud cover at (in)opportune times to make spotting those pesky little MANPADS a real challenge.

The changing weather is nice - a PITA - but good. A quick message to the player would be useful, make it easier for the player to spot opportunities.

Interesting looking scenario which I have only just started to play. However, for me personally a two week long scenario is perhaps a bit too long for my tastes. Perhaps limit it to the first 2 - 4 days or a week at maximum.

I have rescued the three international observer teams I knew about. Should we not receive victory points for each team rescued?

I would like to see more messages detailing political events both locally and world wide, particularly in the hours leading up to the outbreak of hostilities,

Given that this scenario assumes that the Cold War never ended in 1990/1991 this series is an opportunity to showcase the Soviet Ulyanovsk Carrier, the first of which was being built when the Soviet Union fell. Two were planned and perhaps more than that would have been built in this alternate timeline. It may be that one or more of these might deploy to the Caribbean for this timeline. Perhaps also a Chinese carrier could be a possibility. So far however I have not identified any Soviet/Chinese carriers. I would like to at least see one Ulyanovsk engaged in this scenario - ot is just too interesting to miss out.

Yes, working on adding some of those notes...this "final" edition was really only the final with my own testing, I have gotten a lot of good input here that is being worked into the real "final", thank you (and all of you) for that.
Yes, I have several new and improved Russian and Chinese warships in other scenarios of this set coming soon... thought about bringing the Russian carrier even into this one, but it is occupied in a hotspot elsewhere in the next scenario :)
