Mercutio -> Japanese Oil Embargo (8/18/2019 10:25:57 PM)

Hi,

I feel the oil embargo should be like aid to the UK. The US should have to be over a certain percentage for it to kick in.

I have an opponent who intentionally had too many units around Pearl Harbor forever. The US mobilization was only around 38% by Dec 41 IIRC, yet my morale drops, thus kind of forcing me to attack. So I hit elsewhere and had my subs got to PH and sure enough he had a couple of carriers just off PH. Goodbye Wasp!

I feel the penalty for doing this should be you don't get to have the embargo. Thus, the Japanese player has more time to stage everything and attack non-US territory without the US intervening or taking morale hits.

Thoughts?

Why would your opponent have extra units at PH as this will lower US mobilization which must be a bad thing for western Allies who need US in the war and MPPs that can be sent to UK & USSR, You would have been better leaving the US alone and out of the war getting there reduced amount of MPPs because of low mobilization, Yes your getting hit by the oil embargo but I don't think you can do a lot about that and now you have to fight the US but at least you have sunk a carrier and his tech levels must be low with lack of MPPs.

I did delay it a couple of turns. However I don't want my morale to drop into the toilet over it because it is hard to get it back. Game wise I am not that worried about it in this instance. The biggest effect is a lack of MPPs for the UK and USSR.

<edit> and as you say a lack of research for the US. Well really all because UK and USSR get a lot fewer MPPs </edit>
