bcgames -> After Monty's Front...What do YOU want to see? (8/28/2019 3:45:41 AM)

After we publish Stalingrad: Nightmare of the Volga we will transition to developing Monty's Front (21st Army Group 1944). That's all nice and cozy but the Desert War engine is not just about WWII. So what do you want to see after Monty's Front as a game subject? More WWII...or something else? Napoleonic, American Civil War, Korean War, Vietnam War, back to North Africa/The Mediterranean/Tunisia/Sicily? Research costs money and the sooner we know the direction the more easily it is to bear the weight. Whatever the case--state your druthers to lead the way to the game after the next two.

WW1 please. Or WW2 West Front 1940.

Korea and Vietnam sound cool too.

bcgames -> RE: After Monty's Front...What do YOU want to see? (8/29/2019 5:20:14 AM)

The Battle of the Somme 1916 would hold my interest for WWI (got the books on the battle). Korea 1950-51 is a great subject I would like to pursue in earnest (got the LIBRARY). Indochina/Vietnam is also a deep favorite for me in military study. The Campaign for Dien Bien Phu and Tet Thua Thien (I Corps circa 1968) are game topics I have studied for years and would love to game (got all the books to get the jobs done).

Any WEGO-ers interested in the Napoleonic Era? The American Civil War? Battle of Moscow? How about the Cherkassy Pocket? What about Normandy 1944? Is the Battle of the Bulge of interest? Courland Pocket? Battle of Berlin? What do you want to see?

Thanks for giving us the opportunity to provide our input. I am mostly in favor of WWII, but am open to Korean War, and Dien Bien Phu.

My wish list:

Baltic Campaign, Russia, Summer 1944
Battle of the Bulge - It would be great to see this system applied to this battle
Cherkassy Pocket
Kharkov, 1943
Kharkov, 1942
Normandy, 1944
Budapest, 1945

I am curious about Dien Bien Phu. It would seem to me that this one would have to be at the company, platoon scale to work. There would also seem to be a need for special rules for this one.

That's a good list. I can see everyone of these as an excellent choice. I really got interested in the Baltic Campaign after watching TIK's videos on the Courland Pocket.

In addition to those already put out:

Debrecen 44
Khalkin Gol
Winter War Finland vs Soviets
Battles of Russo-Japanese war 1904-1905.
Veliki-Luki 1944

Rob.

I like 'em. Doing Winter War Finland vs Soviets would definitely expand the capabilities of the game engine. The peculiarities of this fight would require a few unique game components.

Debrecen 44? I didn't know that was a thing. Wargaming never ceases to provide me a new historical string to pull. I want to take a tug on this one to see what it's all about.

Alan Sharif -> RE: After Monty's Front...What do YOU want to see? (9/2/2019 6:32:07 AM)

I know this is a cop out, but I like all suggestions above and would be happy to see any/all of them. My least favourite would be Vietnam. I would like to see the Arab-Israeli Wars covered. They are very mobile, and, almost the same map(s) could be used for scenarios covering many conflicts over the years.

What about the two WW1 requests?

The Battle of the Somme 1916 would hold my interest for WWI (got the books on the battle)...

Is that you John Wayne? Is this me?

Zovs -> RE: After Monty's Front...What do YOU want to see? (9/2/2019 4:19:21 PM)

Maybe the next Matrix sale I'll pick this game up. I have always like the battles in NA. Not sure exactly what a WEGO system means, but I have been playing board war games since the 70's those are mostly I think what they call IGUG type of games, which is a just a fancy way of saying the German's go first and then the British go and you keep playing till the end of the game that way.

Jo van der Pluym -> RE: After Monty's Front...What do YOU want to see? (9/2/2019 4:23:01 PM)

Vietnam
Korea
World War III

WW1 please.

No problem!

I'm only familiar with one campaign/year from WWI (Somme 1916). I did a game demo with another company on the Battle of the Somme for the WWI Museum here in Kansas City, MO. You could say I overdid it in the research department cuz I found the battle fascinating.

What is it you would like to see from WWI?

Great video, thanks. I learned quite a bit about the Baltic battles sequence. The Doppelkopf and Courland battles look like they would be interesting to play from either side.

Thank TIK! Subscribe to his channel if you like his stuff. His next BIG project is Stalingrad! I'm very much looking forward to it.

During which years does your WWIII occur? 1975...1980...1985...2020?

wodin -> RE: After Monty's Front...What do YOU want to see? (9/3/2019 10:46:15 AM)

Once WW1 gets in your blood you become obsessed!

Start of the War till the beginning of trench warfare in November would be cool. Battle of Cambria another possibility. The massive March till August '18 German Offensives, or last 100 days Allied offensive. Even the Somme but I'd pick a certain battle and use platoon scale.

Battle of Cambrai...who likes tanks? I do.

wodin -> RE: After Monty's Front...What do YOU want to see? (9/4/2019 10:47:32 AM)

Why I picked it:) Lots of movement too. Plus both sides have to attack and defend.

For WW1, I suppose it'd have to be something relatively mobile? The 1918 German Spring offensive? France 1914? The Eastern Front?

Thanks! So is there a planning phase where both sides plot/plan their moves and attacks? And then you click go?

Saint Ruth -> RE: After Monty's Front...What do YOU want to see? (9/4/2019 4:06:36 PM)

Yep, that's it. Each side plans and then they execute together, and then I sit back and watch helplessly as my Panzers race off in the wrong direction! ;)
So it's similar to Combat Missions in that regard.

Zovs -> RE: After Monty's Front...What do YOU want to see? (9/4/2019 4:12:23 PM)

Cool this game is on my list, always enjoyed the NA battles in war gaming.

That would be my choice as well. Abrams and Bradleys.
