Some of these Allied units are very new arrivals so they won’t have field forts yet, so they could be the ones that took casualties. IJA 20th Div took the brunt of the attack. 1st Tank Div and one of the IJA Infantry Divs were in reserve. 82nd (WA) Div was zeroed. The combat report shows the equivalent of about 2x Allied Divisions trashed for the price of 1. Not a bad trade, but this isn’t sustainable. The decision to be made is whether to withdraw 1st Tank Div and leave the Infantry to their fate, or hold the hex at all costs. Once this force crumbles there are a similar number of IJA Divisions spread along the coast, but in 1s and 2s per hex and not concentrated into a force that could block the advance.
