Japo32 -> Letters in unknown contacts (9/25/2019 11:59:31 PM)

I am in the silent service campaing trying to find a carrier. When I put the periscope up I can see the contacts in yellow or orange with letters starting as: FF, CG, PB. Can anyone tell me what does those letters means? Is there any document to see all the possible letters in case they reffer to type of ships/planes, etc?
I suppose they mean the type of contact it is because the shape of it from the distance, but I am not totally sure.

Thanks!

Those are US Navy hull codes:

FF = frigate
CG = missile cruiser
PB = patrol boat

They're their to give you a rough idea about the type of ship that has been spotted if it hasn't been fully identified.

However, Navy has gone through a bunch of variations over time and I'm not sure the exact list CMANO uses.

Thanks a lot for the reply!

Yes that is what I thought it was, but I searched in the manual and didn't see anything. Would be nice to hava a sheet with a resume of those hull codes used in Cmano.

ARCNA442,

Hey, thanks for the hull description reference. I've included it in the CMANO Dropbox reference library.

As always, any forum member can have access to this Dropbox resource. Just PM me with your email address.
