76mm -> Can Archon do hexes? (10/3/2019 3:14:24 PM)
I see that the new Close Combat game is out, and that it also uses square tiles. I think that every game I've seen with the Archon engine uses square tiles--can it even use hexes? Maybe I've missed an Archon game or two that uses hexes?
Main thing I'm interested in is Steel Tigers; personally I hope that it uses hexes instead of squares...

Yes Steel Tigers is hexes. There are different flavours of Archon - tiles, hexes, regions WEGO, and real time.

Best tasting flavor is hexes.

Looks great. But, I do have a question. Is this engine available to others? Let's say that someone has a project in his mind to implement a game. Will it have the possibility to use this engine to gain time in his development?
Never seen that written.

We are definitely open to allowing the engine to be used for projects, though we would likely want to see (at least) a semi-experienced team with a good plan, to avoid spending time supporting a project with only a slim chance of actually finishing. Game dev is hard...
Cheers

Mostly. Recently I have not been as quick to update new features, though mostly things have been stable for a while. It does rely on some prior knowledge of the STUB engine from BA etc.
