Third Reich 1942 - 1945

This is a monster scenario covering the whole of Europe and NA campaign from 1942 on Division level. It stretches from France to the Caucasus, and from Murmansk to Alexandria.

The game started in May 1942, just before the 2nd Battle of Kharkov and a month before Case Blue on the Eastern Front. In North Africa, Rommel about to unleash his attack on Tobruk. Turn 1 started with “Ceasefire”, both sides can redeploy troops to adjust the grand strategy.

In Eastern Front, AGN / AGC started with battered divisions, having survived the Soviet Winter Offensive onslaught. This is Velikie Luki - Rzevh - Moscow area.

How many troops can both sides redeploy to adjust their strategy.

Almost all troops can be redeployed, though rail and sea transport capacity is limited.

For Axis player, some garrison troops are in garrison mode (duh) - Hungarian, Rumanian, and German troops in Norway / France. On the Eastern Front, only units around Kharkov is in garrison mode and can't be redeployed until turn 2.

Most of the troops in France are "static division" with only 1 movement value, so no point in redeploying them.

Turn 2
Turn 2 marks the start of Hostilities. There were some shuffling around, but not many. Both sides keep their starting positions. The Allied launch modest airstrike and start bridge bombing in Western Europe, but suffer heavy casualties. The Axis is on the offensive on 3 locations

Yelets
Among all Axis troops in the Eastern Front, AGS is the most combat-ready. 2nd and 4th Panzer Armee, supported by 2nd Armee strike Soviet line near Yelets against Bryansk Front, crippling the 48th Army, and 13th Army.

Tobruk

Rommel also went on the offense. Both sides actually have almost equal in terms of number, the only advantage Rommel has is readiness, but supply will soon be an issue. DAK must strike hard and fast to have any chance of conquering Tobruk.

How will you manage the Rzhev situation?

Has this one been abandoned? I was looking forward to it after the beat down Ed gave me in it.

Was looking at it again, and it looks like a fun scene for "masters" of the game.

For me, I was hamstrung by loss of rail on the Soviet side.

Anyway, I hope it will continue! Or maybe Ed will give me another go at it.

Zovs -> RE: Third Reich 1942 - 1945 (Edwire vs Zovs) (11/28/2019 10:16:34 AM)

We are on turn 7. I have had some PC issues and some personal issue and the going is slow due to me and not Rendy.
