Looks like a 15mph gain in max speed costs a bit of maneuver - is it worth it? Been disappointed in Hellcat performance so far in the game, hoping the F6F-5 will help... JeffroK -> RE: Hellcat vs. Hellcat (10/27/2019 2:11:35 AM) Plus 1 hex range or 2 hexes with tanks, a slight improvement in climb plus the ability to tote 2 x 1000lb bombs. IMVHO, the F6F is average for late war, I try and get every possible F4U on decks, but can take advantage of very highly experienced pilots. If the AFB hides his CV his fighter pilots could be an average lot.

Canoerebel -> RE: Hellcat vs. Hellcat (10/27/2019 2:15:03 AM) Hellcats with good pilots can hold their own against advanced enemy carrier fighters in the late war, but they are woefully deficient against good LBA fighters. They don't stand a chance in escort or sweep roles against good enemy LBA CAP. The Bearcat is about the same, very late war. It does "okay" under the right conditions, but there aren't many of them, so they aren't a big deal.

Alpha77 -> RE: Hellcat vs. Hellcat (10/29/2019 1:23:35 PM) Well, a) they are a huge improvement over F4 and b) in CV fights their enemy would be Zeros (M5/b/c) and the F6 is much better (except in some mod where the George is CV capable and I am quite happy with the 1st George modell so far, but land based and SR3) Re. Allied CV pilots I noted pilots comming fresh with Essex and Independence were in fact not the best (but that was a DB mod I believe not sure about stock). Need moar training..therefore the USN gets many named good pilots "for free" IIRC
