cgoldfarb -> Upcoming builds disappear (10/31/2019 11:10:03 PM)

Like it sounds. Upcoming builds disappeared; afterwards I purchased a new unit and it too disappeared from the upcoming build list the next turn

cgoldfarb -> RE: Upcoming builds disappear (10/31/2019 11:25:06 PM)

To clarify it's the "Deploy" menu they are disappearing from. I can provide a turnfile that demonstrates this.

ncc1701e -> RE: Upcoming builds disappear (10/31/2019 11:38:25 PM)

Known issue. Please see this thread:
https://www.matrixgames.com/forums/tm.asp?m=4708691

AlbertN -> RE: Upcoming builds disappear (10/31/2019 11:54:02 PM)

Hopefully a hotfix will be deployed soon as right now the game is non playable due to this bug. (Which in my case affects new games only but has not affected games started with previous patch)

cgoldfarb -> RE: Upcoming builds disappear (11/1/2019 1:20:06 AM)

It definitely affects games started with the first patch. Thanks ncc1701e, you rock for pointing out this was already reported.

AlvaroSousa -> RE: Upcoming builds disappear (11/1/2019 2:26:28 AM)

Ok I see this bug. What the hell. Even I am baffled because I didn't touch the queue.

cgoldfarb -> RE: Upcoming builds disappear (11/1/2019 2:59:21 AM)

It's software! :)

Let me know if you need anything else to fix.

AlvaroSousa -> RE: Upcoming builds disappear (11/1/2019 1:08:18 PM)

I found it. I fat fingered code. Patch today via in game update.

Flaviusx -> RE: Upcoming builds disappear (11/1/2019 1:13:17 PM)

Hurray.

Will this restore lost production or do we have to restart games fresh here?

zakblood -> RE: Upcoming builds disappear (11/1/2019 1:17:34 PM)

thanks

AlvaroSousa -> RE: Upcoming builds disappear (11/1/2019 2:15:37 PM)

It will not as the code I moved cleared the deployment queue.

Just some weird fat fingering myself on a line of code I somehow grabbed and moved and I don't know how. It was a fluke I realized what happened. I noticed the date on a file change that wasn't supposed to be changed. So I looked and saw it.

comsolut -> RE: Upcoming builds disappear (11/1/2019 2:19:14 PM)

Seriously? Then at the risk of getting jumped on by the forum, you need to test patches more rigorously!

cgoldfarb -> RE: Upcoming builds disappear (11/1/2019 3:20:00 PM)

As a developer, it happens. This isn't Microsoft Office with an internal QA department of hundreds of people. It's just Alvaro. If we held him to the standard that every little piece of the app needed to be tested prior to deploying a patch, we still wouldn't even have the first patch. I applaud his responsiveness and appreciate his work.

Alvaro, I have problems though with the in-app patch tool. I think it's a VPN thing. Is there any chance the new patch will be posted as a downloadable file on the matrixgames site?

AlvaroSousa -> RE: Upcoming builds disappear (11/1/2019 3:21:19 PM)

I think they do that. It should be up shortly from what I was told.

While restarting a game may be a pain, your solution would mean we had to wait months for a patch. It's far faster and more thorough if we the community stress test the patches than waiting for one guy to first code changes and then spend months trying to stress test it all by himself.

By making it a community effort it also allows everyone a chance to chime in on fixes/changes that occur in real time instead of just a small team of a few beta testers. That means as many different solutions get aired here as possible and we don't end up in a situation where an unpopular change gets hard coded into the game behind closed door and then a community effort needs to speak against it later to try and get it removed or changed.

Yes its a pain in the early days, but I think we all see what a gem this game is going to be in the end, so join in and be a part of the solution and understand teething pains are just a part of the process. Or simply stick to version 1.00 until a stable patch has run long enough for you to feel comfortable installing it.

Jim

WYBaugh -> RE: Upcoming builds disappear (11/1/2019 3:44:04 PM)

Alvaro is being agile

That sounds like being a beta tester. Just my personal frustration with unfinished games rushed to market.

And I thought Matrix had a system of unofficial patches for those that wanted to avoid teething pains and then the patches would become official.

I'm just on the wrong side of this issue.

I believe that it is up! There is a hotfix dated 11/1/2019 on the file download page?

Flaviusx -> RE: Upcoming builds disappear (11/1/2019 3:47:20 PM)

A small team of testers is never going to catch everything. I know whereof I speak here, trust me. See the sig.

The plain fact of the matter is these are very niche products for a very niche gaming community and we all kind of are in it together and have to make it work. So cut Alvaro some slack here. He is not making millions ripping us off on this or whatever. It's a labor of love.

comsolut -> RE: Upcoming builds disappear (11/1/2019 3:49:28 PM)

I paid my two cents, I get to have my opinion. Will get off the soap box and back to the game [:)]

Zovs -> RE: Upcoming builds disappear (11/1/2019 4:01:09 PM)

There is a file up there that says 1.00.02.01 Hotfix dated 11/1/2019, but I would have thought it was called 1.00.03. But I can't download it I get ERR_CONNECTION_TIMED_OUT.

budd -> RE: Upcoming builds disappear (11/1/2019 4:07:40 PM)

This is just one of those issues that has merit on both sides of the issue. At least comsolut wasn't a jerk about it like i'm all sure we have seem with other games. It's a double edged sword for a dev, take to long and your not being responsive, put a patch out that screws up people's on going games and you moved to fast and didn't test enough.

We're all beta testers for every game ever released in my view, as no game or program i have ever bought has been without issues and bugs.

zakblood -> RE: Upcoming builds disappear (11/1/2019 4:14:34 PM)

file grabbed, but it seems to me the same as the auto download one, as same version once open / installed

zakblood -> RE: Upcoming builds disappear (11/1/2019 4:16:34 PM)

same date and number before and after so manual is the same as auto in game one

never seen or had one called 1.00.02.01[&:]

Toby42 -> RE: Upcoming builds disappear (11/1/2019 4:21:52 PM)

Notice the file is different (WarPlan-UpdateComp-v1.00.02.01). It has the .01 at the end?

Zovs -> RE: Upcoming builds disappear (11/1/2019 4:31:59 PM)

I just downloaded it from the web site:

WarPlan-UpdateComp-v1.00.02.01

Upon extraction it shows 11/1/2019.

The updater is not working. What happened to the members area? After the site redesign, I cannot find it.

Where can I get this hotfix? Anyone got a link? .

Zovs -> RE: Upcoming builds disappear (11/1/2019 4:46:57 PM)

You have to go to your My Page, then click on My Page and then scroll down through your games and then click on File Downloads for WarPlan and you'll see all three files (the installer, hotfix and manual).

Thank you. It's like they have hidden it! It was much easier to find when it was members area.

Flaviusx -> RE: Upcoming builds disappear (11/1/2019 5:33:33 PM)

Just installed the patch, did a quickie hotseat 39 turn 1 and 2, and can confirm the deployment bug is gone. So yay.
