Chocolino -> Diplomacy (11/4/2019 6:53:04 PM)

Hello everybody,

this game is right along my ally - first one in quite a while - Thank you.

But found this in the manual p 106 and it made me curious.

"Note: It is highly recommended that scenarios are played with
diplomacy turned off."

Does anybody know what evil side effects are expected if diplomacy is turned on? (I assume all games are scenarios)

Also, does the recommendation apply particularly to playing the AI or also PBEM?

Thanks -

I was not going to pot diplomacy in the game. I did because I know players like it and it allows modders to make something special. But diplomacy is too large of a variable that unbalances the game. Do thus why the recommendation.

A.I. vs PBEM.... PBEM is a lot more fun because you are vs a thinking opponent.

Thank you for the quick explanation - much appreciated.

Sure - understood - but my questions was more specific about the diplomacy - is it not recommended in AI games or also not recommended in PBEM. Based on your earlier answer I assume now that it is the same in either case.

Actually, Al, I think you hit the sweet spot on Diplomacy...not too much, just enough. In my AI and PBEM experience so far, it is a factor, but won't change the War drastically or in an unbalanced way.

So..Kudos!

PBEM is always superior and more fun IMO since it ain't 2160 and there is yet to be an AI that can plot out a proactive or long term strategy while reacting to an opponents' strategy. Skynet hasn't taken over....yet. [8D]

Yes diplomacy vs A.I. just isn't good. Optional vs PBEM games.

Yeah, I wish I could be present for 2160. Can you even imagine what computer wargames will be like? Keyboards or any of these games will be non existent. I wonder what people will be using to play WW2?

Avoid diplomacy in PBEM.
It's quite game breaking. (I'd use balance breaking but the game I feel is in the process and need to get balancing out atm)

Regarding diplomacy I have noticed in my last game that USA can influence minor toward the allies even when they are neutral.
I am thinking should the USA be able to do that before they had enter the war? Would they even try?
A solution I have seen in other games is that USA can start with influence only after they have entered the war.
What you think of this?
