sawtooth9993 -> Potential bug - detached division, with 1 OP, can expend 3 OP (11/4/2019 9:03:26 PM)

I'm playing on the latest version

I've tried posting links to my screenshots of the situation but apparently I'm not allowed to.

Basically, I had a large infantry corps with 2 operational points. I wanted to move this corps into a hex, but the hex was within an enemy unit's ZOC, so I could not do so. However, after detaching a division from the large infantry corps, I was able to somehow expend 3 operational points and move into the hex, even though the division only had 1 operational point available.

Hope that makes sense.

Is this intentional or a bug?

Additional suggestion: Please allow us to choose which hex our detached division lands on, similar to the deployment menu. Maybe prevent detaching into hexes within an enemy unit's ZOC to prevent cheesing similar to what I did here.

Thanks! Great game overall. Very much enjoying it

I'm also unable to upload my screenshots as their file size is too large. I can try PMing them to interested parties.

There is usually a waiting period for new accounts on posting links to prevent spammers from spamming links in tons and tons of posts. Used to be a real problem in the forum with spammers posting dozens and dozens of spam threads.

Image size cannot be more than 200kb to post it, I use paint.net (free image editor) to edit and crop my images.

Units detaching try and pick the safest hex.

Good to know. However, is the ability for this division to expend 3 operational points when it only had 1 to spend a bug or intentional?

Thanks

That is not intentional.... but

If you attacked a hex.
Then detached.
That hex you attacked has no enemy ZoC if it became contested.
So it would only cost one OpPt.

Is that what happened?

I'm splitting units right now and the OpPts are right. So I am not sure your situation.

PMed you the screenshots since I am unable to post links or upload pictures, even if the pictures are less than 200 kb in size.

Argh, I can't even send PMs apparently.

I'll try emailing you the screenshots.

Apologies for the triple post. I can't even send you an email, as that is through the Matrix Games site, which is keen on preventing me from posting links.

Here are shortened URLs, which redirect to the screenshots (which are hosted on Gyazo)

"." is replaced with (DAHT)

Screenshot 1 (corps before detaching division): shorturl (DAHT) at/nuBUW

Screenshot 2 (division after being detached. Note how it only has 1 OP): shorturl (DAHT) at/bxAM8

Screenshot 3 (division after somehow spending 3 OP): shorturl (DAHT) at/BIWY5

All screenshots were taken on the same turn

I fixed it. I added some new code and found an easier way to do things. It has to do with contested hexes. The value is correct in that it only costs 1 to enter the hex. The number is wrong on the path image for a contested hex.
