Just read Rich Atkinson's "An Army at Dawn" and I found it quite enjoyable. It is about the US Army in North Africa and is the first in a planned trilogy About a third of the way through Charles McDonald's "A Time for Trumpets" about the Battle of the Bulge. Pretty good read so far.

"Beyond Valor", written by a buddy of mine, Patrick O'Donnell

About WWII Ranger and Airborne vets, mostly in the ETO, in their own words.

Klinkenhoffen -> Two books (7/9/2003 8:58:49 AM)

Berlin and Stalingrad by Antony Beevor.

If only the masters let their Generals run their campains as they saw fit the outcomes may have been different.

Edwards, The Devil's Own Luck (Brits - but what the h3ll!).

Bando, Breakout at Normandy: The 2nd Armored Div in the land of the Dead (A bit thin - but what the h3ll!)

Webster, Parachute Infantry (Not very gung ho - but what the h3ll!)

Phil -> Here's 2 by Stephen Ambrose (7/10/2003 8:52:29 AM)

Just read "Band of Brothers". Was quite enjoyable. It was amazing how many of the cast really resembled the charactors.
I enjoyed it so much I began reading "D-Day: The Climactic Battle of WWII".... another one by Ambrose. It too was very good.

ThomasBELL123 -> Steel Inferno (7/10/2003 9:50:52 AM)

By Michael Reynolds
1st SS Panzer Corps in Normandy, Paperback, World War 11 Library. Pretty Good, but dry.

The Simple Sounds of Freedom, by Thomas Taylor. Story of Joe Beyrle, 101st Airborne Div. Escaped capture, twice, wound up fighting with the Soviets. Random House. Good Story.
