New player trying to figure things out but enjoying the game. Playing the Axis in the 1939 scenario on Historical settings with the newest patch.

I have a couple of questions:
1. It is mid March of 1940 and Germany has just conquered Yugoslavia. Italy has lost her oil supply from Romania (Convoy screen states that the Romanian convoy is blocked). Not sure how long this has gone on but Italy has no oil. What could have caused this?

2. What is the effect on Italy if she has no oil?

3. How does Italy enter the war? She cannot declare war on anybody as her status seems stuck at 75%. Not sure how to raise it so she becomes part of the Axis.

4. There are some hexes near Bengasi, Tripoli and Cairo that look like "Desert Hills" but are tagged as just "Desert" with the mouse overlay. Desert Hills comes from the Manual and is Rugged terrain which effects movement and supply. If the Supply overlay is applied, these hexes seem to be acting as Rugged terrain (the supply number is reduced by 3 instead of 2). Am I reading this wrong?

1/2. It just happens like that, doesn't really matter much. You could send them some oil from Germany if they need it when they join the action.

3. When you take Paris you can start declaring war.

4. Not sure, have not done much action around there. The main issue is when you get too far from a port in the desert then there is no supply (if there is no rail).

You are not reading it wrong. It is desert with hills. All terrain can come in different varieties. There are some forest which cost 2 movement, others 1, others have more or less defense.

As tyronec pointed out: Italy declares war, after france surrenders.

1. So did something trigger Romania to shut of the oil to Italy?

2. Found the answer in the manual. Should have looked first. Sorry.

3. Thought I had read somewhere that Paris was the trigger for war entry but was not sure.

4. So those hexes are Desert Hills and the tooltip is wrong?

It's considers a rugged desert for flavor and defense. It is still a desert.
