CCIP-subsim -> Combined Factions (stock) (11/10/2019 11:09:24 PM)

As suggested by exsonic01 in this thread: https://www.matrixgames.com/forums/tm.asp?m=4712830
---

This mod includes an alternate database, which is identical to the default except that it includes two new combined factions: NATO and Warsaw Pact.

These factions include all of the units/aircraft/formations/flights from the following stock factions:

NATO:
-US
-UK
-FRG (west Germany)

Warsaw Pact:
-USSR
-Poland
-GDR (East Germany)

The base stats and eras are based on the US and USSR factions respectively.

Note that Finland, being a non-aligned nation, is not included.
Also not included are the DLC faction, although you should be able to play one of the combined factions vs a DLC faction if you own the DLCs.

In order to avoid confusion, all units/aircraft/formations/flights for these factions have had tags added at the end of their name to indicate their nation: e.g. Infantry Platoon (UK), Infantry Platoon (US), Infantry Platoon (FRG), etc. You will also see these tags in the individual factions.

Note: as with all modded databases, this one will not allow you to load any of the default scenarios and
campaigns if selected, though you can still make your own scenarios and generate battles.

This mod also includes the Ammo Names (added info) mod, which adds some extra detail to ammunition
descriptions. More detail on this mod here: https://www.matrixgames.com/forums/tm.asp?m=4712106

Also added on Steam Workshop.

Installation: Unzip contents of the zip file into your Armored Brigade main folder, then activate the database via the game launcher.

Thank you so much, it would be great if there is a way to enjoy default scenarios and campaigns from combined mode, but I guess devs may think about this in the future. I will think about some possible scenarios using your database, Thank you!!

I think it'd be cool to have a more flexible way to select factions in the future - so I'm definitely not thinking of this as more than a stopgap. Being able to "cross over" units and forces more organically would be great.
That said, if this can add some extra value to the sandbox side of it in the meantime, why not? [:)]

Most of the work here, by the way, was just renaming all the units and formations. Actually merging the factions is easy. Just for an experiment, I did a merge of basically all the factions yesterday, and it only took maybe half an hour. It's doing it in a way that's sensible and labels everything clearly that takes up most time.

CCIP-Subsim,

Sir, I found within the Warsaw Pact that a Russian Infantry HQ unit was classed as a FRG unit. I don't think it does any harm but thought it best to let you know in case you wished to amend the FRG tag to USSR.

With respect, VK.

I get a page not found when trying to download the attachment

Thank you - you are right, good catch! I'll fix it when I get a chance.

Budd: that is strange! I'm getting that response right now too. I suspect that's a Matrix server issue.
If it doesn't fix itself, I'll upload it to my google drive later today or tomorrow. It's also on Steam Workshop already, if you happen to have that.
