A little question about inf assault & armored transport (Full Version)

Hello !

I try to find a way to disembark a whole group of infantery from their armored, and then issue order to all of the infantery.

Actually, the only way I found is to order an unload, and then, move each inf group one by one. Is there a better way ?

Also, is there a way to change the initial transport of the inf. group ? For example, if the armored was destroyed and there is another one with no one onboard.

You can just select all and order disembark (=unload) to all, like WRD or other RTS games.

In this game, embark and disembark is only allowed for infantry with dedicated vehicle. Plus, infantry only can embark their dedicated vehicle, not other's vehicle. As far as I remember devs limited free embark and disembark because of AI-player balance issue. Current AI cannot 'wisely' decide when where to load an unload any infantry. That is why AB only allowed embark/disembark for combination of mech infantry and dedicated vehicle.

Indeed, that mechanized concept is in place to prevent excessive micromanaging by the player, although the primary reason is that the game engine handles units as formations as a whole rather than as single squads and vehicles.

What we do plan is allowing detachment of mechanized infantry as separate formation once they disembark: the idea is to facilitate dismounted operations by reducing command delay and allow for greater flexibility and lower the losses in vehicles. Not sure if it will be possible to reattach, lets say, squad A/4 which lost its vehicle with vehicle V/3 which lost its dismount squad but I will ask. Hopefully it is feasible.

Thanks for your reply ! Should be a really nice possibility to have a separate formation for disembarked infantery.

For now, depending on what I want to do, I tend to order manual move of armored transport or to infantery in order to detach the one I want to manage as a whole.

Should be really really to be able to do for either one.
