Definitely looks like your computer should be able to run Command. Perhaps try running Command (or steam) as admin user, or change the GPU settings on your computer to use either your 2080 or your intel built in GPU?

Try first Step 1 and if the issue still persists try Step 2.
Step 1: Run the game as Administrator

- Right-click the game in your Steam Library.
- Go to Properties, then to the Local Files tab.
- Click Browse Local Files.
- Locate the game executable (the application file).
- Right-click it and go to Properties.
- Click the Compatibility tab.
- Check the "Run this program as an administrator" box.
- Click Apply. Having done this, restart Steam and try launching the game again.

Step 2: Run Steam as Administrator

- Navigate your Steam installation file (By default, it is in C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam).
- Right-click the Steam executable.
- Follow the above steps to set it to Run as Administrator.
- Restart Steam.

Thanks but that made no difference. Neither did todays patch.

Uninstalling Nvidia GFX drivers fixes it, but you have to live with "Microsoft Basic Display Adapter" performance.

"Faulting module path: C:\Windows\SYSTEM32\d3d9.dll" is a clue, pointing to directX.

I've not tried the Matrix version, just Steam.

Looks like a corrupt or outdated GeForce driver somewhere in your system likely from a previous graphics card. Do a clean driver install by using DDU and then reinstall

441.20 clean installed twice. No difference. Installed matrix version and steam. No difference. Ran as administrator, updated to today's patch. Nope. Totally broken.

coolts, I don't know if it is a related problem, but on my system CMO crashed on the main menu screen, disabling RivaTuner Statistics Server solved the problem. Or you can keep it running and add Command.exe to RTSS, then set "On-Screen Display support" to Off. Hope that helps.

You are a genius! It was bloody Rivatuner! As soon as i disabled that it worked. Must be something in CMO not liking the hooks RT has into the GFX drivers / DirectX or something. [&o]

Great. So now apart from Steam and MSI we have to worry about Nvidia too...

I have just tested a few things and found out that the RTSS OSD actually works totally fine in CMO, but OSD rendering mode needs to be set to Vector 3D instead of the default Raster 3D, and then CMO doesn't crash and the OSD works.

Well Rivatuner is not part of Nvidia drivers.
It's a 3rd party program for tuning Nvidea cards

Wrong program! ;) It's not about RivaTuner, it's about RTSS Rivatuner Statistics Server:

Not sure how widespread its use is, but I've not seen any program but CMO throw a wobbly about it.
I guess Gizzmoe has come across this before as i was about to throw my toys out of the pram [;)]

I have 250+ games and I had this happen maybe twice in many, many years, games that don't work when RTSS is running at default settings are pretty rare.

But it is a fact that RTTS is very intrusive by design and that it can cause trouble of different kind. Sh1t happens...
