mavfin -> Intercept mission still early RTB issue 1115.7.1 (11/21/2019 11:48:34 PM)

Testing with new build today, 1115.7.1 DB3000 v480

Why are both of these newly-launched air intercept groups RTB(Mission Over) already?

There are hostile fighters still in the air...
What is the justification for sending them home already. The game obviously thought they should launch them...but then as soon as they formed up, both groups of three are already RTB(Mission Over)?

Pic (will post save in next reply)

And here's the save, at the same time as the screenshot above.

Later in the scenario. Things are going better, two of three 2-plane strike missions worked fine as far as altitude...third one did this again:

(You can see it had been riding higher, but was finally diving to join its brother...)

Moving along, here's another one. Supposed to be a group of four, 504-507. Look at this stack...

And a save at the time of the last screenshot:

And again...

And the save...

No more hijinks the rest of the way. Getting better, but still some wrinkles.

This is only an impression, no proof, but it feels like it gets worse as the scenario goes on, like maybe it's leaving trash behind in the variable storage or something? Is that even a thing these days?

Thanks, fixed this for the next update.

If this is happening consistently, can you please post a save before the mission-over logic kicks in? This will allow us to walk through the AI's thought process that leads to this decision. Thanks.

If I have time this evening, I'll pull a save as soon as the Intercept mission starts launching planes, and then if they start RTBing, I'll save again.

The one in the pic seemed like I looked at it once, it was forming up, was at 1/3, two more launches, and it was formed up...and RTBing.

They've just launched, formed up, and then RTBed(Mission Over) before they decided to go anywhere. I'll have to watch. I suspect it's right when they're formed up, and they're deciding where to go, is where they're hitting RTB. Look at the group just south of the highlighted one. That's another intercept group. It formed up first, and it's never really gone anywhere, already circling around to land.

I'll have to watch that process as well.
'
EDIT: I'll also look at the logfile for the mission to see if there's something else there as to why they RTB'ed.

While looking at this issue, can you also keep an eye on the Escorts for Strike are launching in the right number?

I had 1 single-aircraft flight of Growlers assigned to a Strike mission with a pair of F-18s (one flight) with HARMS. There were 3 Growlers assigned to Escort Mission, but the Escorts were limited to 1 flight (again, of 1). It always seemed that when the Strike mission launched, 2 flights of 1 Growler would launch with it. If I see it again, I'll post a save as a separate thread, but figured I'd point it out here as something to keep an eye our for.

Best thing to do is get screenshots of what's going on, and then put in the next post the save taken at the same time, like I did in this thread.
