Hi

It's called Operating a unit in the game, here are the rules on it:

Operating Units

If you do want to transfer your Artillery, or other units, rapidly from one front to another then Operating them is the quickest way of doing so.

Operating represents the rapid relocation of a unit over a long distance, for a cost in MPPs, and it will be the only action the unit can carry out this turn.

To Operate a land or air unit, right click on it and select Operate. You will then be presented with a dialog box informing you of the cost if you proceed.

Saying Yes does not yet commit you to Operating, but by doing so potential destination hexes will then be highlighted. Left click on the one you wish to travel to, or right click anywhere on the map click to cancel.

To be able to Operate, land units must have a supply value of at least 5 and be on or adjacent to a railroad that is linked to at least one resource with a strength of at least 5. This will provide the opportunity to move the unit to any connected resource on the railroad that also has a strength of at least 5.

For air units, no rail connection is necessary though the unit will need a minimum supply value of 3, as will the resource it operates to. The cost of operating air units is double that of land units, as moving air units over long distances requires a greater logistical effort.

Rail also works different from roads in how it provides supply...

Another noob question (thanks for info about operating), my subs are sitting on allied red convoy lines but there has been no information on interdiction effect since the first one. Are the subs having an effect? I hope so cause I spend a lot repairing them as they attempt to move past the UK destroyer screen. Are subs useful in general? Should the axis player be making more subs? I am stretched for money so I am only using the subs that came were made and in the production pipeline already.

I am going to take a wild guess and suggest that your subs may not be in "hunt" mode. If you set the mode to "silent", they will not hunt merchantmen but hide from destroyers instead. It makes them very hard to find and destroy, but they don't interdict shipping while in this mode.

You can set the mode manually, or if you are attacked it may send you into "silent" mode automatically. Right click on the unit and look for the "mode" tab. If it is in "silent", set it to "hunt". Now you are ready to drown some sailors.

Markiss, yes I didnt have them set to hunt but thought I did. I didn't know about the colored light on it that shows the mode.
My subs are doing good now.... other than when they get smacked around by DDs and CLs.

had another question but found about it through trial and error
