I was thinking of picking up the Operation Torch add-on during the Holiday Sale. I was thinking the less unit dense scenarios might be better for picking up the nuances of the game.

Does it add anything to gameplay besides the additional scenarios?

IIIRC we added a few features to the air game when Torch was released, but they are available in the standard game now. There may be some air group symbols that are only available with torch but they aren’t needed to play the game. I do think it is easier to learn the game with the smaller scenarios, and there are more small scenarios that come with the torch expansion. There is no strategic bombing in the shorter land scenarios so that removes one element you don’t have to worry about.

I would add that the Torch to Tunisia scenario is one of the best maneuver scenarios in the series. Low density units but lots of movement space.

The Operation Torch expansion pack is fantastic. I would highly recommend it.

I was a beta tester so I guess I'm biased.
