tiemanjw -> [Resolved] CEC in large scenario (11/28/2019 7:30:41 PM)

Summary
CEC not reliably working

Description
In the attached scenario (modified Hail Mary, newest DB), a flight of F35-Cs (DB #3495, Flight 9495 - N 7 deg 02'25", E 115 deg 47' 02") and a flight of F18-Fs (DB #3828 Flight 9677 N 6 deg 05'29" E 115 deg 46' 19") are approaching enemy JH-7s (several around N 5 deg 46' 53", E 114 deg 59' 33"). The F35s are illuminating with their APG-81 radars, the F18s have radars secured, however, the F18 can not shoot AIM-120D missiles. An attempt to manually allocate the weapons reports "... can NOT fire. Firing unit must obtain (from itself or another CEC-enabled platform) a high-quality track...". Lighting off the F18 radars results in a near instant shooting solution.

Note there are some J-11s at about N 6 deg 29' 13" E 115 deg 16'21" (which are even closer to the F35s). An attempt to turn and target those with the F18s results in the same error.

I saw this same issue with two flights of F35s in "King of the Border" as well but my stupid %$#% accidently overwrote the save before I could post a bug report. I did attempt a small scenario with just 2 flights of F35s targeting a MiG31... in this case the CEC was successful. So it doesn't seem as simple as CEC never works, just sometimes doesn't work. I don't know if all the additional units (and radars - ships, E2, other flights of aircraft doing other things) are confusing the game.

Update those scenarios to the latest DB using the editor and CEC should work.

tiemanjw -> RE: CEC in large scenario (11/28/2019 8:28:06 PM)

I'm using DB 480 in this one... is that not the most recent?

tiemanjw -> RE: CEC in large scenario (11/28/2019 8:37:37 PM)

Ok... maybe not, but if not, something else must be wrong. I did the:
Editor->Database->Upgrade Scenario to latest DB
and assumed that it upgraded to 480... however it still says I'm using 472. I tried it twice more, and (after warning me I'm already using the latest and greatest), it says success, but still says 472. If I hit the button "use latest DB3000: DB3000 v480", it just deletes everything.

So maybe CEC is fine, but the update database function isn't working?

Do you own the game on Steam or Matrix? You may need to update.

tiemanjw -> RE: CEC in large scenario (11/28/2019 9:10:52 PM)

Both... mostly using steam. Says its version 1115.8.1

You're using a beta version then. Try restarting Steam or "verify game cache" to make sure Steam updates the game properly.

When you're updated you should get a warning when trying to update the DB that the "Jilin" satellite is not in the DB, you'll have to find it and delete it. After that it should update fine.

This is indeed a database issue.

CoW scenarios will be updated to the newest DB in a future patch.

In the short term the steps Raptorx7_slith describe should get you sorted.

Thanks for the help... that did it, though it took a bit more trouble than I'd expected.
I switched over to the Matrix version, which did allow me to update the data base (after removing the offending satellite), however in my saved game the update started, but never completed (I gave it two tries of over an hour while I was cooking Thanksgiving). I went back to the modified scenario file and it updated right away. Since I wasn't that far into the scenario, I just restarted and all seems well. Thanks again.
