exsonic01 -> Southern Storm... (12/4/2019 2:57:54 PM)

It is 2019 December... any news yet?

In the past I thought I would be able to enjoy FPC-SS around 2019 Christmas but it seems that is not possible...

Let us know when close beta starts, I can help any testing.

CapnDarwin -> RE: Southern Storm... (12/4/2019 6:02:07 PM)

exsonic01,

Happy Holidays! Yes I owe the world an update on where we are with FCCW: Southern Storm. We were hoping to start some early beta testing a few weeks back, but we ran into a couple of bugs in the Scenario Editor that we deemed very frustrating and did not want to unleash on the testers. They are the intermittent variety of bug and that has slowed our progress to take them out quickly. Rob and Charles have been hard at work in the bug squishing. William is working on the map related items and a ton of work in the UI and is joining Jeff and I in getting all of the new special characteristics hooked up and tested. Steve is on the on deck circle tapping his foot waiting for us to get things cleared up so scenario and campaign work can start. I'm hoping we can get things to a point to launch into this first wave of Beta testing. Now that first wave won't be a lot of game play work and bug reporting. We will be looking for folks to mash buttons and look at all the screen and menus and such to make sure thing work and that there is no UI/UX issues with the new interface and all the new info panels. After that burst we can work on game play and those related items.

Thanks for your continued interest and support. I have you on the First Beta shortlist once we get going.[&o][&o]

Thank you so much for your comments and explanations. Would you consider some screenshots as a Christmas gift for us ? [:)] Keep up the great works!!

A question related to Southern Storm mostly related to PBEM play.
How much variability is there in a scenario at the start?
(forces involved, arrival times, air support missions, artillery available)

If there is some variability, how much is under player control?

CapnDarwin -> RE: Southern Storm... (12/30/2019 12:32:59 PM)

CT, can't get into any details right now on the what's, but like Red Storm you will have the ability to adjust those things the scenario designer leaves options for like setup zones. [8D]

Jo van der Pluym -> RE: Southern Storm... (2/25/2020 9:14:59 PM)

Is there all news about when start betatesting?

CapnDarwin -> RE: Southern Storm... (2/28/2020 12:29:41 PM)

Jo, unfortunately not at the moment. We are behind where we want to be due to real life impacts on our team and debugging of features as we work toward getting the game into a beta testable shape. We are getting closer and will let folks know the minute we have hit that goal. [8D]

Jo van der Pluym -> RE: Southern Storm... (2/28/2020 9:13:47 PM)

CapnDarwin

Thanks for the reply.

Jo van der Pluym -> RE: Southern Storm... (6/13/2020 7:14:45 PM)

Sorry for my impatience.

Is there all news about the game and betatesting?

wodin -> RE: Southern Storm... (10/8/2020 2:13:31 PM)

Any further news??

CapnDarwin -> RE: Southern Storm... (10/8/2020 3:09:10 PM)

We are still working on it. This year with all of its oddities has impacted our development speed, unfortunately. We are hoping for some news soon, but we don't want to jump the gun on anything either. There is a game, it is in good shape, we are still working on code related to features and UI/UX items, and starting to get some of the documentation going (there is a lot of it this time around). [8D]

76mm -> RE: Southern Storm... (10/8/2020 4:20:29 PM)

At this rate, will we ever see this engine adapted to WWII? Release of Southern Storm has taken far, far longer than I expected.

CapnDarwin -> RE: Southern Storm... (10/9/2020 2:28:18 PM)

76mm, we still want to adapt the new game engine to both a WW2 and Modern era after release of Southern Storm. [8D]

kevinkins -> RE: Southern Storm... (10/25/2020 1:11:03 PM)

When you do go into WW2, which will be a great money maker, resist the temptations and go right to the Eastern Front. A PC based wego Panzer Blitz sort of. All of us old gamers can die and go to heaven. All the best.

+1million and 10:)

PanPuzio -> RE: Southern Storm engine and WWII (1/14/2021 9:22:19 AM)

Southern Storm will upgrade old Flashpoint Campaigns to new standard?

CapnDarwin -> RE: Southern Storm engine and WWII (1/14/2021 12:42:45 PM)

PanPuzio, Southern Storm is the first installment of our new Cold War game engine. Basically a ground up rebuild of the Red Storm system. The new game engine is not compatible with Red Storm as too much has changed with data, maps and models to work. We will be going back after release of Southern Storm and working a DLC called Central Storm that will be a rebuild of the Red Storm and Germany Reforged content to the new Cold War game engine standard.

I hope that explains things. If you have any questions, please let us know.

Jaws_slith -> RE: Southern Storm engine and WWII (1/14/2021 6:35:39 PM)

Looking forward to this!

Can we expect Nothern Storm aswell? With the Dutch 1st Netherlands Core and the 2nd (US) Armored Division (Forward)

CapnDarwin -> RE: Southern Storm engine and WWII (1/14/2021 6:39:56 PM)

Northern Storm DLC is our planned first add on for the Cold War game engine. Then Central Storm. After that we have some options depending on how many people we can add in as content creators.

Jaws_slith -> RE: Southern Storm engine and WWII (1/14/2021 6:44:47 PM)

Thats Awesome news, thanks for fast response!

PanPuzio -> RE: Southern Storm engine and WWII (1/14/2021 8:07:43 PM)

Will we play the Poles in Northern Storm?

CapnDarwin -> RE: Southern Storm engine and WWII (1/15/2021 2:03:38 AM)

@PanPuzio, yes. [8D]

PanPuzio -> RE: Southern Storm engine and WWII (1/15/2021 4:58:23 AM)

Great news, thanks!

Sounds like the old days of GDW and Strategy & Tactics, without worrying about the cat knocking the stacks over.

An easier map creation engine might spur more volunteer content creation.

And if you want to get rich, you'll have to do the East Front of WW2.

CapnDarwin -> RE: Southern Storm engine and WWII (1/21/2021 5:28:39 PM)

We want to do both a WW2 and Modern era game engines down the road. Really depends on on a bunch of factors.

Jaws_slith -> RE: Southern Storm engine and WWII (1/21/2021 5:30:17 PM)

Really looking forward to WW2 too :)

sfbaytf -> RE: Southern Storm engine and WWII (1/22/2021 4:21:23 PM)

Eagerly awaiting Southern Storm. Currently playing Hell on Wheels Campaign and what a bloodbath. The Russian keep on a coming...WW2 would be cool. A digital version of Panzer Leader and Panzer Blitz?

The 1973 Yom Kippur War would also be a great module to have.

CapnDarwin -> RE: Southern Storm engine and WWII (1/25/2021 11:38:06 AM)

We would like to circle back to the Mideast conflicts at some point as well. Red Storm is built on the framework and ashes of a failed Mideast game engine. [:(]
